Performance Yorkie? Would you consider advance training with your Yorkie? Doing a sport or competition with him or her? If so, which ones? (admin please delete the repeat post - the computer loaded the post before I got to making the poll!) |
I bought Bailey as a 'show prospect' and intend on showing him. He's entered in a show in a few weeks actually |
I would really like to have my dogs in agility and obedience. Right now I'm am a 6 hr drive to the nearest classes but soon we we more to the city I do plan on signing them up. I used to teach basic obedience many years ago and loved it. |
When my children are a little older and I have more time to dedicate, I would love to do something with my dogs. Not showing! But definately something. I'm actually not sure what some of those things are. Could you briefly explain them? |
At the end of this week, my web designer will have posted a article on my website explaining each of these sports. In the interim, you can browse the links and the info already posted which will take you to sites related to each of these sports: http://www.mightymitedoggear.com/links.html For those interested in agility - read the "interview"! |
After the show this weekend in my area and talking to you, Yorkipower, I got some great leads for trainers in my area and plan to get started right away. Hefner had a good time on the agility course and wasn't afraid of anything! I am excited to get started. Is there aminimum height becauae he is pretty small? |
Thanks!! |
obediance........... HAHAHAHAHAHA actually toby is really good at agility and he would probably do really good at flyball |
My close friend is an agility instructor so we will be giving agility a whirl this fall. I doubt we would go so far as to actually compete but who knows? It should be a fun new experience for all of us! |
Bo adores running and chasing balls and being outside in general. I wish I was able to work with him on agility but I can't. I've never seen a dog that can turn on a dime, race thru the living room at top speed, leap in mid-run and is completely fearless. Are all Yorkies like this?? |
For all those who are considering doing agility with their dogs, I strongly encourage you. Even if you aren't sure about ever competing, you should know that there are now so many different agility "venues" that there's really something for everyone. If you have a very small Yorkie, the Teacup Dog Agility Association (the good "teacup" lol) is something to look into - the biggest inhibitors for small dogs are the jump heights, A-frame height and seesaw tipping weight but in TDAA these are,, and can be, all lowered. A link to TDAA and many of the other agility organizations can be found here: http://www.mightymitedoggear.com/linkstraining.html |
I went to see an agility show and it was really fun . My friend Annie is doing agility with her 2 Yorkies . Nathan is 4 pounds and Roady is 5 pounds . |
I signed up for agility but got an assignment on that day of the week...so I didn't get around to it... Maybe next year! :D |
Freestyle? Someone voted for freestyle! Who here is doing freestyle or planning to do freestyle with thier Yorkie!? How cool! :D |
