I was 16 when I got Smoky, my first. MeganS I cannot believe you are only 12. I am impressed.

I was told they were great for the retired, elderly and disabled. Well, I'm two out of three. I'm 56 and it's just like raising a baby again. However, this go around I have more patience, time and money.

I got Bo when I was 46 as a Christmas present for my children. We put him in a gift bag and he didn't make a peep. Then we made them sit on the couch for their surprise and placed the bag in their lap. The look on the faces when they opened the bag was priceless!

Birthday Gift
 
I wanted a Yorkie as my 35th birthday gift so my hubby, who calls me his spoiled brat, agreed we could get one. Maxx was intended to be my b-day present but when he never made it home, we found Piper. He came home 11 days after I turned 35. Loving every minute of him...except the once daily need to potty on the floor, the chewing of my coffee table...etc. :p

I had got an extra job (at a vet) to save up money when i was 17, because i had wanted a yorkie. Well i worked there for 6 months then i got laid off cuz they were really slow. I had saved quite a bit and i saw an ad in the paper and after convincing my parents, I got charlie for $500. It was truly the best money i ever spent.

wow thanks that's great to know. i find that interesting because a lot of times with acting dogs they use their real names. he's so cute!!!

nugget was our first yorkie. my girlfriend had wanted a yorkie all her life, and talked about it very often. i never knew very much about little dogs, as i always likes boxers and pitts, but she had explained to me a lot about yorkies and how great they are. one day i was delivering pizza and i came across a breeder of yorkies who was exceptionaly friendly, and just happened to have a litter of 5 yorkies a week prior to meeting her. i took her number and my girlfriend and i went back the next day and met her yorkies(the 5 pups, mother and father, an 8 month old female from her last litter, and a very old yorkie that was her husbands who past away a few years back). after meeting the pups, the parents, and the breeder and many many visits each week, we took nugget home! i never thought i'd love such a little dog, but he's just like a son to us now! :)

The first Yorkie that came to live with us was a rescue from the SPCA in another county.. Life has never been the same as it was before that sweetie took us over..

I got my first yorkie with my mom when I was 10 yrs old. Then, my husband and I got Miko for each other's birthdays last year.

My mom and I got one when I was 12.
I got Cosmo when I was 18, which I still am until Aug.
