Should I get a Parti or a Biewer?
 

This has been a looonnngggg running internal question...I am so stuck and confused right now! :eek:

What do you guys think? Should I get a Parti yorkie or a Biewer? I already know many of you have STRONG opinions about this...as I found out from my other thread...;) and that's ok! I welcome anything! Please PM me if you have a chance as well, I'd love any info I can get!! Thanks!! :D

i'd get a biewer (i'm actually hoping to get one soon too :) ).

I say get a parti and learn qhat all the hullaballoo is about. LOL.

The Biewrs have standards, so it's looks and size might be more predictable. I'm have no idea what percentage of Biewer puppies meet the color standard.

But the partis are just getting started and you could get in on the beginning.

They are all beautiful. just look at those gorgeous babies in my avatar.

I voted for the Biewer...but, of course, I'm a little biased in my opinion!

i personally would love parti and hoping one day to get one. So go with the parti:)

Since I am going to assume (I know bad on my part) that you are going to breed the Biewer or the Parti I don't think you are ready to get either dog until you fully understand both of their history. There is tons of information out on the internet on these dogs and I would not just get your information here. You need to be fully aware of the history, the lineage and the health issues that surround these dogs. When a new breed/color variation is first introduced you need to understand these dogs are very line/inline bred and you must understand who you can breed them to down the road as there is not a large gene pool on either breed/color variation. Each of these dogs have pro's/con's and it is not just based on how beautiful these dogs are. I don't have a clue how many Parti's are in the US but I am guessing there might only be a little over 300 Biewers here in the US and most of all of them are related only 3 generations back. Genetics will play a large role in your breeding program and you will have to be prepared to go long distances to find someone to breed with that does not have the same lineage.

I cannot speak about the Parti but from a Biewer standpoint to many people are breeding these dogs without understanding how to read a pedigree and realizing how closely related many of these dogs are. They are not like a Yorkie with a much larger gene pool.

I wish you luck but please go into this fully armed with all the information you can find.

I would love one too. But don't know which either! I voted for Biewer but I'm just not sure. It will be interesting to see what others say. Either way, wouldn't you need to have two in order to breed them? Either two parti carriers or two biewers? But the parti's would create regular colored yorkies as well? I think it's all very interesting.

I am told, most are breeding AKC Parti's with standards and that upsets the Yorkie world..but Biewer people perfer to breed Biewer to Biewer (I think)..I realize I am far from being an expert on this subject..but I like the fact the Biewer is not AKC..and Biewer breeders are not pushing for it.

Here are the facts...if you want to show standards at some point, join clubs, accquire breeding/ show potentials and stud service from breeders, you will get neither. If you do not care, pick either...

I have a Biewer..I do not breed myself..might show the new puppy, but I am not "courting" the Yorkie world and do as I please, as long as I think it ethical..I can not be kept from any of my goals because of owning a Biewer...if you can, I would go slow and think it out carefully.

I thought a yorkie is a yorkie, and the biewers or partis were the same thing just different colors can you explain and I will give you my answer or show some pics of a biewer, and a pic of a parti, I will give my 2 cents worth:D

I'm not a breeder, however here is my understanding....

The Biewer breed originated in Germany from two parti-gene carriers. There are about 40 different lines of full Biewers (Biewer to Biewer breeding only) that have originated from these lines. There is one Biewer club that accepts breeding a yorkie into the mix to strengthen the Biewer lines (since the line came originally from yorkies), but if you do this the pups are considered splitters for a 3 year period and are sold as pets only during this time.

A parti-yorkie is tri-colored, but there are parti carriers (those who have the piebald gene) that may look like a standard yorkie. Breeding a parti carrier with a yorkie or a tri-colored parti to a yorkie can produce yorkies of partis. All partis have come from a yorkie breeding or yorkie/parti breeding - not from a Biewer.

I didn't cast a vote, because although I would love to have a tri-colored yorkie, I have no preference whether it is a Biewer, Splitter or Parti as I would not be breeding.

If you are going to breed you may want a Biewer as a Parti may not have many other tri-colored babies when bred, even though they could be parti-carriers.

They are tri colored dogs, some believe them to be yorkies, others do not. Jodi explained in the post just above your post.

Also, not that it matters but wanted to point out, this is an older thread, the OP is listed as "no longer a member". I do believe though the OP re-opened her YT account with the name MaDeDo (or something similar to that) and now, does have her Biewer or Parti.

Ohhhh....I'm sorry - I didn't read every thread just the top few. Yes, I see Jodi's answer. I never heard of these variations. I was trying to figure out what kind of yorkie my Bailey is. I guess she's a yorkie, not either of those. Thanks for the clarification. :aimeeyork
