Is Your Dog Microchipped? I was wondering how many of you had your dog microchipped? We have 3 of ours microchipped and because of it we got our Rosie returned to us! Rosie got loose and two boys found her and wanted to keep her so they took her harness and I.D. tag off. One week later their mother told them that they could not keep her and she eventually ended up the hands of a lady that took her to the vet to check for a microchip. One week after we lost her we got a call from Home Again Microchip Company at 8:30 in the evening telling us that they had the lady that found our dog on the other line!! We were SOOOOOO happy and lucky to get her back. We were just lost without her.:aimeeyork :) |
Yes, I have my girl microchipped and it offers me such peace of mind. It's the best $15 to $20 you could possibly spend on your baby and can help bring your baby back home if he or she becomes lost or is stolen. |
No not yet. |
I micro-chipped AND put an ID tag on my little one. Boy oh boy, am I glad I did! One day, my family and I were working in the garage with the door open. We were quite busy in there and for a while we didn't pay attention to what or where Aggie was going. It was only when our phone rang and a lady across the street told us she had Aggie with her did we realize she had ran out! Whew... |
We are not micro Chipped. I go back and forth with it. I have heard both pros and cons. The only reason would be if she was stolen. We have 8ft fence on the sides of our yard and a 13ft retaining wall along the back. Katy spends a lot of time with my DH in the front yard and garage she is fully trained not to leave the yard for any reason. She will sometimes tremble with desire to go greet a dog walking by, but will wait until she is given permission. |

The credit really goes to my DH. He worked with her a lot. SHe really wanted to be outside with him and he was always working on his project truck in the garage. Every time she broke the rule she was not allowed back out with him for the rest of the day. She didn't like that and learned quickly what she needed to do to stay out there with him. (She loves her Daddy). ( I should mention her Daddy was determined he wasn't going to like a small dog in the early days) Quote:

Bella's not microchipped but I plan on getting it done when I have her spayed. |
I really need to get him tags incase he slips out the door to make it easier for someone to return him. |
Angel and Princess are chipped. We had them done at the same time as their spaying. I would NEVER put one in a furbaby when they were awake. I have seen it put in a HUGE dog and it REALLY hurt. I can't imagine how painful it would be for our little ones. Kissy isn't chipped since she hasn't been "out" for anything since she was spayed as a puppy 7 years ago. They didn't have it back then that i was aware of. If she is every out for any reason, i'll have it done. |
Buddy is NEVER without me outdoors. He carries two ID tags on his harness. One from the vet and the other from insurance with all the information needed for his safe return. I did not want to put him through the stress of chipping him when I first got him and then never did it. There is no way he can get away from me unless someone steals him from my home. |
