Photography Hey friends! I was just wondering if anyone knew much about photography? One of the things I LOVE about this site are all the great pictures of everyone's pups and some people have some GORGEOUS pictures! I'm trying to learn as much as I can, but I have no idea where to begin. Which is the best camera to start off with? Right now I currently have a Nikon Coolpix P500, but I think I need a digital SLR to get the quality pictures I want. Someone told me I should get a Canon Rebel T21, does anyone agree?? I also have no clue which settings to use or even how to teach myself how to use one. I would love some input if anyone knows a lot about photography! I do know that shooting in natural light is best, but I love the pictures where the main thing you are shooting is in focus while the background is a bit blurry, does that make sense? Thank you so much for your help!! :) |
Have you looked in YT's photograhy forum? There's a lot of great info there. Photography Talk - YorkieTalk.com Forums - Yorkshire Terrier Community :) |

The sticky at the top, DSLR camera questions, was a HUGE help to me in choosing my camera. Happy shopping! Bonny |
The Canon is an excellent camera, and you would probably love it. I started off using Canons but switched over to Nikon over twenty years ago. I like Nikon colors, ergonomics, and quality control, but the Canons are also wonderful. It sounds like you will love using a prime lens. If you need any help with choosing a camera, I'd be happy to help, no matter which manufacturer you are leaning toward. My recommendation would be to put both cameras and to choose the one that feels most comfortable to you in your hand. I'd also like to recommend that you buy this book if you are interested about photography. Amazon.com: Understanding Exposure, 3rd Edition:... most current edition Amazon.com: Understanding Exposure: How to Shoot... older edition You will learn so much from reading it, and the photos really will teach you so much about getting good photos. |
