Question about my camera problems I have had a coolpix L18 for a little less than 2 years. In July of last year (at the YT meetup), the screen suddenly became distorted and it appeared to have water damage, though the camera had been working perfectly just seconds earlier and hadn't been exposed to water or any other potential dangers. I just picked it up for the first time since it 'died' and it still takes pictures, but the screen remains distorted (I can't see the picture at all). I love this camera and would love to have it fixed if there is a way to do that. Is there any idea of what could actually be wrong with it? |
For Point & shoot camera always go Canon Honestly its not worth it to fix it. either use it like that Or buy a new one. |
Yeah, that happened to me once, Megan. Camera worked fine but I couldn't see anything. For the cost of repairs, you're probbly better off getting a new camera. Just have your Mom give you an advance on your first Broadway check. |
I wonder if moisture got in from rain. It shouldn't have happened if it was sealed correctly unless it was a lot of water. Since it's no longer under warrantee, it's probably not worth the cost of repairs, since it is expensive to repair just about any camera equipment. The cost of cameras have come down so much, so you can probably get something similar for a good amount less than what you paid for it. I love Nikon and will probably check them out if I get a point and shoot camera, but I think Canon is usually better for point and shoot cameras. Some of the Panasonic Lumix cameras are nice too. If you can see what you need to with the way it is and still compose a picture, I would just use the camera you have. If you decide to get another point and shoot camera, I would stay away from the ones that are 14 megapixels. When you are dealing with a small sensor, too many megapixels isn't a great idea. They keep making them with more megapixels because people think they are better, but I think having less is much better. |
