What do all thos letters mean Tamron AF 18-270mm f/3.5-6.3 Di II VC LD Aspherical IF Macro Zoom Lens for Canon DSLR Cameras Tamron AF 18-200mm f/3.5-6.3 XR Di II LD Aspherical (IF) Macro Zoom Lens for Canon Digital SLR Cameras Can anyone tell me what all that means? |
I was just doing more reading on camera features when I saw your post. I know what two of the letter abbreviations mean: VC = Vibration Control IF = Internal Focus (this means the lens has the autofocus motor built in) I'm still reading, so I'll see if I can find any of the others. Oh, & I think LD = Low Dispersion (referring to contrast & resolution performance). "Aspherical lens elements provide for higher resolution, high-contrast images while minimizing chromatic aberration, astigmatism and other forms of distortion." |
Actually, the IF means that the built in auto focus motor "allows the lens to focus without changing its external size, improving balance and handling characteristics." |
Thank you. |
