Adobe Photoshop Question. I'm not sure if this was covered yet? I have Adobe Photoshop CS3. I'd like to change the picture to black and white but leave pieces of it with the color in tact. Can anyone tell me how to do that? I'd really appreciate it. Also have questions about Corel Painter if anyone is familiar with that? I'm trying to change my pictures into paintings. Thanks very much. Elaine. |
I don't have either of these- lol but i have used photoshop The photoshop- is there a "lasso" tool. I believe you can turn the whole thing b/w and then lasso the part you want in color and turn it back- i could be WAY off- but it is somewhere to start! also can't you use photo shop to turn the picture into a painting? isn't there an "effects" tab? i REALLY hope someone who REALLY knows what they are doing comes by to help! |
Here is an easy tutorial on you tube.... Basically you open the photo, duplicate it , on the duplicate, adjustment layer to B &W then paint over the color you want to be in color with black. If you dont get it let me know , I can write the steps down for you. It is called Photo shop selective color. You can do it in gimp also which is a free program..... In Gimp you 1. Open and select photo (layer 1.) 2. Click on "Layers." Choose "Duplicate Layer." 3. Click on "Colors." Go to "Hue Saturation." Reduce saturation to -100. (or B&W.) 4. Go to "Layer." Go to "Mask." Click on "Add Layer Mask." 5. Go to "Tools." Choose painbrush and size. Choose black square to reveal color and white square to cover it 6. Paint away! 7. Go to "Image." Choose "Flatten Image" to save. |
2 Attachment(s) For changing pic into paintings in Photoshop, Open the photo , Hit Filter--- then dry brush. adjust and save. You can see the difference when you click on the 2 photos one is original the other painting. |

I'm only here to offer you moral support :p. I have Photoshop and I have *such* a love/hate relationship with it - I WANT to *love* it, but I'm pretty sure it *hates* me. I just don't find it super intuitive to use - and you can really get into advanced use, if you want/need to. What I really need to do is take a class, and there is a wonderful one offered here in Phoenix...just can't seem to get around to it.... |

Ann, I'm not sure if it's Marcel or Wylie, but one of your babies reminds me so much of my new girl Brooklyn. I think you said that they came from the Durrer lines? Brooklyn is out of those lines too. Elaine |
