Are non stick cookwares cause serious health issues? I found this article on healthy cooking and I became a little bit conscious about cookware health. I heard from some one that cooking and eating in nonstick cookwares will lead to cause of cancers in long shot. Is this true? I use less oil or no oil to cook dishes which if not in non sticks will burn the bottoms of the vessel seriously. After learning about non sticks I am scared to cook in them. Please suggest me alternate to nonstick or some good brands of nonstick which assure no health issues. Thank you. |
Ceramic is a safe choice and what I use. Those non-stick pans that are rough and look black contain teflon. It's very toxic and the fumes can kill pet birds in minutes. As such I do not have teflon anywhere in my house. I will not risk myself, my bird, or my other pets. |

I got rid of all my "teflon" pots and pans and got stainless steel, and also ceramic pots/pans....I love the ceramic pots! They are what I personally call expensive, but I have always experienced, you get what you pay for! I even got (ended up with?) 3 cast iron, ceramic coated stew pots....beautiful and they cook beautifully, but I certainly do not recommend them because they weigh so much! Younger people wont have any problem with how much those pots weigh, but my son has to get my pots out of the oven because they are so heavy for me anymore.... |
The only decent resource I can find is on stone frying pans |
