Copper Pots? Does anyone have any experience with using copper pots? I was at TJ Maxx and saw two pots made of copper, they just drew my attention like a magnet. They looked so beautiful but I just wasn't sure how well they preform or what to look for, construction wise. I did buy the small sauce pan just because it looked so nice but I'm still not sure if it's a decent pan. |
I think copper is amazingly pretty and great to cook on. But, I prefer to cook on cast iron. Anything in a pot rather than a skillet is in heavy bottomed enamel coated cast iron. Nothing more evenly distributes heat than cast iron IMO. I do a lot of braising followed by slow cooking from stove top to oven or pan searing stove top so copper would never work for the kind of cooking I do. If you're going to get copper pots, you should buy ones that you know are not lined with cheap tin. Meaning you may have to invest and that means not buying at a discount store that usually just has cheap knock offs. |
Copper pots. Copper can leach out into foods cooked in them. If the copper pot is lined it is ok. |
I cook with pans that are iron with a copper bottom and they cook great and the copper looks great even though Ive had them for years. I wouldnt hesitate to cook with copper pots |
