Horse, turtle, octopus, frog, goat.....that's all good stuff if prepared well. Chinese pickled radish(smells horrendous), I don't care for those. |
Over the weekend, I had ostrich and croc burgers. For those who have had neither (or for those who have and would be interested in my opinion as compared to your own!), the croc tasted like pork sausage but not American sausage but plain English sausage...I don't know how helpful that is!!!! I'm American but couldn't think of any sausage which tasted like croc and it definitely has an English sausage taste to it! Ostrich tasted like venison, kinda, and had a very meaty texture almost like beef but just richer.. So, I'm off to try python soon! Will keep you updated..ha. |
I've had alligator but not croc. I'm sure it's similar lol. I cant tell them apart by looking at them, just know that gators are in Fl. I've had ostrich burgers before. I don't remember anything about it, don't remember even if I liked it! And I've had rattlesnake in a sausage. It was good but it was pricey so probably not going to have it again. |
2 Attachment(s) Muttonbird takes the cake for me. Imagine a cross between an extremely fatty chicken and canned tuna. I mean emphasis on extremely fatty. It tastes like chicken and fish at the same time but is so fat and oily that it's pretty hard to eat the first time. It's a real shock to the senses. |
WTF? So it's an actual bird? Looks like a skinny seagull. How can that little cutie have so much fat? |

1 Attachment(s) I posted the wrong photo though, it was the Australian cousin of that bird I posted initially. Here is what the New Zealand one looks like: |

I've seen it in Asian markets since I was a kid. I'm sure I've probably eaten it, but not specifically introduced to it, like, here try this, like I was with sushi. I just found out a few years ago it's pronouced gooey duck, not geo duck, like it's spelled. LOL When it finally started showing up on cooking shows. |
Very interesting. |
