What is your favorite Christmas dessert? We have a tradition where I always make eggnog snickerdoodles for Christmastime. I think my husband would die if I failed to deliver on that unspoken promise! I am also making fudge this year (the KRAFT recipe) which I haven't made in years because the sugar in the recipe tickles my teeth and I just love it so I know it's bad for me! Yet, these things remind me of Christmas. What kinds of desserts do you look forward to at Christmas? Candy canes? Cookies? Cakes? Puddings? I need to know if I'm missing something out there!! |
Red Velvet Cake (with the *real* / original flour-based frosting!) Fudge Chocolate Pie Frosted sugar cookies Yum Yums |
 Christmas Pudding, of course..... Misty - you're half British now, you NEED to embrace this tradition :p And don't forget to pour warmed brandy over it before you serve it, then set light to it.... :D Classic Christmas pudding | BBC Good Food |
Shortbread - love the homemade buttery soft on the inside crispish on the outside. Mincemeat Tarts - Yums Ginger PoundCake - double yum - I make a hot chocolate sauce to pour over it - and another time a raspberry sauce. Death by Chocolate Cake. Any chocolate cake by Madame Hatter Hot Toddies Fruit Salad - Real berries, grapes, kiwi fruit - steeped in Grand Marnier - So decadent to have real berries in the winter-time:):) Homemade Chocolate Eclairs Handmade chocolates - I love salty caramel, cherries, brittle Hot ginger tea with spiced rum. Strawberry Cheesecake - Usually for New Years - I make a 10" 5" high glorious cheesecake. The good news is cheesecake freezes well ;) Mixed Nuts I usually only buy nuts at Xmas time. Cinnamon on the stove bubbling away. |

haha 1/2 British, yes I believe you're right! BUT, I tend to let my MIL do all the British desserts because can you imagine the wrath if my desserts turned out better?? She already gets mad when I make spaghetti and her husband eats it because he snubs his nose at hers..lol! She buys Christmas pudding and brandy cream but never set it alight...thank goodness.. after all the alcohol consumption on this day, those flames would travel right up her arms if she dared to exhale..haha |
What exactly is Christmas Pudding anyway? |

I have to say for us it's frosted sugar cookies. Everyone loves them because they're so soft and puffy. I was just looking at the recipe to see if I had the stuff to do about three batches. I used to love Mexican Wedding Tea Cakes but I haven't had them in years. |
Pecan pie! What is Christmas without a pecan pie? :D |
