Does anyone have an Induction Cooktop? The manual says that you have to use magnetic cookware? But then it says aluminum is ok to use. Aluminum isn't magnetic. Also says not to use cast iron, or glass ceramic, but copper pots are ok. Ok sure, copper pots and pans are hundreds of dollars, let me go buy a whole set. What type of metal cookware do you use? We just got a killer deal on an Electrolux to replace our old cooktop, which only one burner works. |
No one has an induction cooktop? |
No sorry at the moment I have electric. And I am changing over to gas |
I tried to find the answer for you through google. All I found were very dissatisfied customers  hopefully you have a different model than the reviews I found. Still no answer found on the cookware. |

Take a magnet shopping with you. If it sticks to the bottom of a pan, that pan should work on an induction cooktop. I've never had an induction cooktop, but a friend of mine had one installed when she remodeled her kitchen a few years ago. Not long after the remodel was finished she pulled it out & installed a gas cooktop...not really sure as to details why though. She cooks ALOT though and was used to cooking on gas before the remodel. |
Yeah that's why I was confused. There are two types of heating elements on the Electrolux. The induction I suppose is the one that boils water in a few seconds. The other one you can use regular cookware on it. We have electric now, and the induction is supposed to be just as responsive as gas. Our kitchen it not set up for gas. |
I bought one for my son, and when he needed a pot to cook stew etc in, he told me to look for induction on the box or on the bottom of the pan. I bought a great pot at Walmart. It was pricey, at $70 for a really big soup pot, I think 20 quart, the smaller ones got more reasonable. After he cooked for me, I'm not only to get me an induction stove top, but the pot too :) |
I went to Ross and saw some pans with a sign that also said induction on it. It was that new non stick ceramic coated kind. I have one at home that we haven't ever used yet so I will try that. We actually haven't even gotten it installed yet. |
I love my induction cooktop. I use All Clad. I think it's stainless steel with a copper core. I use cast iron with no problems. |
