I'd totally try the pork sung donut! The Nacho fries they actually have at Del Taco. It's off menu, but they have it!

LOVE it! I had a "pork burger" at the McDonald's in Milan. And McDonald's in Manila has McSpaghetti. McDonald's in Hong Kong has corn in a cup. Don't ask me why I've eaten in so many McDonald's around the world. I don't even know myself :p

Ok, about the donut. That pork topping is very common in Chinese food. It's basically dried and shredded pork jerky type stuff, a little sweet, a little salty. We usually put it on congee (rice porridge) or inside sweet buns. So it's not that far off from what's traditional, except the bun is probably a bit more sweet.

There is a Filipino based chain here called Jollibee. They serve a few noodle dishes including spaghetti and they also have this dish that's pancit palabok: noodles with chicharon, shrimp and egg. But then here they changed the name to Fiesta Noodles. LOL. I have yet to try it. I'm not that big into Filipino food. Most of it is deep fried and pretty oily, and that's coming from a Chinese person! :p

And I don't know what is up with Hong Kong food and corn. There's like corn on everything.

When I was in Japan, they had shrimp in their beef patty at McD's, similar to #2 on the list from KFC.

I think some of this sounds gross... HA HA

Re: the nacho fries - I've seen those pop up a lot around here. Not necessary in the fast food industry, but in parks and such. We have a Del Taco nearby. Haven't been to it in years!

I'm half Filipino & I agree...it's all oily. I love it though! I suppose it reminds me of my childhood. I love GOOD Chinese food too. I'm a snob now because I lived in HKG for 9 years ;) But I'm not a fan of that shredded pork stuff (on top of the donut). It's too sweet for me. I only eat it to be polite. There's a Jollibee here in Queens. I love pancit palabok! But it's def an acquired taste.

It hasn't been on the menu around here for about 3 years, but they can still make it if you ask. I remember when I was in high school in the early 90s they had it on the menu, nacho fries with jalapenos, then it disappeared. Then about 3-4 years ago it came back and they had the regular version and the deluxe version (!) with chili, cheese sauce, tomatoes, sour cream, green onion OMG I love that crap! Then one day I went there to get some. I asked if they still have it bc it wasn't on the menu. They said it's not on the menu but they can still make it. :D:thumbup:

I used to not like it as a kid bc I thought it was dry, and mostly we ate it on "juk" (congee) and usually we were served juk when we were sick. You know bland diet? LOL But I like it now. I like that kind of sweet. Not sugary sweet but like glazey sweet, I know that doesn't make sense though. :cool: But I like juk now.

But neither of those are "outrageous". That article was about fast food from restaurants based in the US with items we can't get here.
