I have used beer on my hair before. In the 80's wasn't it peroxide to make your hair turn blonde ( or orange). Or lemon juice? |
Avocado, milk and honey facial masks It wouldn't be a day at the spa without green goop covering your face. Make your mask green by stealing an avocado from the fruit bowl. This mask will help moisturize dry skin: Mix up half an avocado, one-quarter cup of honey and one or two tablespoons of milk. Apply the mask to your face and leave it on for about 10 minutes, then rinse with warm water. For another delicious facial treatment, try a simple honey and milk mask. Not only will the honey moisturize your skin, but it can also help acne caused by bacteria. Mix two tablespoons of honey with two teaspoons of milk (whole milk is best). Apply the paste to your face and leave on for about 10 minutes, then rinse with warm water. While you're at it, cover your eyes with cucumber slices — they'll help reduce puffiness. Celebrity chef Giada De Laurentiis talks beauty >> Salt scrub There's nothing like a salt scrub to make your skin extra soft. This treatment couldn't be easier to make — simply mix one part oil to two parts salt. Choose a fine sea salt (which will be gentler on your skin) and an oil such as coconut, almond or grapeseed. For a light scent, mix in a few drops of essential oil like lavender or peppermint. Now you're ready to apply the salt scrub anywhere on your body that you want to feel smooth and exfoliated — just scrub on and rinse off. (If you have sensitive skin, replace the salt with sugar.) See more ways to use coconut oil in beauty treatments >> Mayonnaise deep conditioner If you have dry and damaged hair, skip the salon and give yourself a mayonnaise-based deep conditioning instead. Mix one egg with one-third cup room temperature mayonnaise (plus a few tablespoons of olive oil if extra conditioning is needed). Depending on the length and thickness of your hair, recipe may need to be doubled or tripled. Apply mixture to damp hair and cover with a shower cap for about 15 minutes, then rinse with cold water only. Because this treatment can leave your hair a bit oily, it's best not to do this one before a first date. Wash the extra oils out the next day with shampoo as usual. I made a scalp scrub out of brown sugar and hair conditioner and it works really well. I also mix ACV and baking soda to strip product build up (per Lisa's suggestions via text :p) I also made a deep conditioning treatment out of coconut oil and natural honey. |
:D 'Empty' lemon halves for beautiful elbows!!! I've never used them, but my mum does, and her elbows are amazing!! :D x |
