What will be on your Christmas table? Every Thanksgiving we have ham and cornbread dressing. Every year for Christmas we have a different theme. Last year we had Egg Rolls, Crab Wontons, Fried Rice, and Mae Ploy sauce. This year will be the same! :D. Or at least my son is saying it is. So what will be on your table? |
Well.... Thanksgiving is Turkey with cornbread stuffin and all the side dishes Christmas my family uaualy had ham. My mother roasted a goose one year when I was very young. But with combining my traditions with Alan's we often have standing rib roast. Here in Miami we are often invited to friends houses for Christmas eve and most Cuban's have traditional Roast pig, morros and yuca. morros (I am sure I am not spelling right) is black beans and rice ..some it is red beans and rice I think. very yummy!!! Yuca is a root veggie Christmas day we are going to friends that have Lazana... and we are having benu nocia for the 24 |
For starters, Fudge, Chocolate-Covered Cherries, Egg Nog and we go from there to add cakes, pies, cookies, etc. Those are candies and goodies but at Christmas, that is how we do it. We usually eat some appetitzers, visit, take pictures, go for the sweets and then open presents, graze on the real food later. The "sugar plum" goodies are prominent and then we lay out various meats or pizza, salad, green bean casserole, 3-bean salad, sweet potato casserole & other things of substance to eat when we're sick of very sweet things. This year we might go ahead and have a traditional turkey or ham dinner. Still deciding. |
We will have the usual...turkey with sausage stuffing, traditional Jamaican rice and peas (red kidney beans), maybe a ham, lazagna, I've been told to make my macaroni pie by my kids.....didn't make it for Thanksgiving, some kind of salad...dessert remains...maybe my magic cookie bars and a blueberry cheesecake...dang Imma be in the kitchen all flippin day!! Oh I forgot Ackee and Saltfish with fried dumplings for breakfast...wouldn't hear the end of it if that wasn't on the menu.. |

Ok in my parents house (dad being all Italian) we celebrate Christmas Eve. We have the 7 fishes. So we are having fish(shrimp, fish cakes, etc)and pasta with a tomato fish sauce, rice balls, veggie, salad. Think that is it. Christmas day it is just me and DBF. Idk what I am making. We will probably be still full from the night before. ;) |
