Squash-Yes or No? 1 Attachment(s) Do y'all like squash? I love most varieties. What varieties do you like and what's your recipe? My dad recently brought me this little gem. I don't even know what it's called. I didn't even know how to cook it so I just sliced it and grilled it, seeds and all, with a little butter. I have another one I think I will look for a good stuffed zuchinni recipe to try with it. Attachment 372984 |
not a big fan of the squash..butternut only! my dh makes it for me with brown sugar and its yummy. he also cuts it in half and grills it, love it that way too! that does look good though. |
Yellow squash, either fried (yummy) or stewed. Hubby likes good ole southern country cooking so stewed squash and cornbread with a glass of ice cold sweet milk (plain white milk ) makes a meal for him. |
I take zuchinni and yellow crooked neck squash, slice in about 1/2 inch thick slices ("coins"), steam them together, to your own preferred doneness, with diced onion, salt and pepper to taste, and served with a pat of butter on top (we use Smart Balance Spreadable Butter). |

The only way I've done summer squash is to quarter it length wise. Then I dip it in lightly whipped egg whit, roll it in a mixture of grated Parmasean cheese, S&R, and either dried bread crumbs or Panko crumbs. Spray lightly with oil then bake it at 400 for about 20 minutes or until lightly browned. Then I dip it in either pizza sauce or spag. sauce....Love it! |

Dinner here on the farm is around dark-thirty. :D |
In our family we eat all squashes: butter squash, yellow, etc. I make a delicious salad with roasted butter squash cubes, spinach leaves, soft goat cheese garnished with roasted pumpkin... yum! The round squashes/zucchinis are perfect for baking them stuffed with minced meat and rice. Sour cream and tomato paste sauce goes on top! |
Roasted acorn squash stuffed with olive oil sautéed portabella mushrooms is my new favorite. The dogs eat butternut squash and love it. Zucchini is a common staple here - I like to grill it |
Crook neck is my fav! I love it fried with a yellow corn meal coating, stir fried with butter and onion, or grilled. Yummy! Served with fresh tomatoes, cucumbers, and pinto beans. There is a meal! :D |
Zuchinni and yellow squash, sliced and sauteed or nuked for a few minutes, with real butter and some salt, and parmesan cheese... Or cut up and added to spaghetti sauce. Willing to try all the recipes on here though.... yummmm! |
I eat squash like candy practically. Love all varieties and any way it is cooked. |
I haven't come across a squash I didn't like. I don't know the name but it's a filipino squash but I love to make that with chicken or pork in a soup style. I also love kabocha pumpkin.(Is that a squash?) |
