I use bridgefords frozen bread dough to make the best cinnamon rolls I sometime buy prepared basil pesto sauce in the refrigerated section and.. I buy coucous mix and use as a base for a receipe.. say fry some red onion, pine nuts, add tomatoes and feta cheese .. yummy |
pre made pie crust or wonton wonton wrappers, eggroll wrappers, Phylo dough, wonton wrappers are also a great vehicle for low fat/ carb meal/ snack options!!! |
Love the tips, the older I get the more shortcuts I want to take. Bought some capers at Target, boy are they salty! Harrysmum suggested pizza, what else do you put them on? |
IDK what I would do with out Lisa coaching me about all the diff spices and such...I have made things I would never have tried in the last few months...I have to say my DH and son love all these new foods:) Best jarred sauce I have tried is Classico Florentine spinach and cheese...it is YUM for a jarred sauce. ps..we even have capers in my little one horse town:D |

I now have in my cupboard..rice vinegar..pink salt...duck sauce...curry powder(which is all I can find around here) jasmine rice and basmati rice. I had never heard of this stuff before:eek:and I also have a rice cooker..which I LOVE!! and wonton wrappers you can make all kinds of yummy stuff with. I even spray them with zero cal butter spray and then sprinkle cinnamon and stevia and bake...they make perfect little cups for fresh fruit:) |
Have you heard of Mae Ploy sauce? |

Nancy for capers, crush, add olive oil, garlic, rosemary, thyme, and Dijon Mustard. Mince very fine some almonds. This makes a lovely rub/coating for Roasted Lamb. You can substitute different nuts for almonds, gives a whole new flavour Also try adding some truffle oil, small tad in with the olive oil. |
Dag, I thought I could cook...you guys are putting me to shame! As for curry powder you really have to watch which one you use, east indian or west indian. they are two different tastes. being west indian (jamaican) I only use Montego curry powder...I find the east Indian curry too sweet tasting and too hot, not enough flavor, I have to add cumin and tumeric to make it taste the way I want it too. I was making curried goat and fiance bought the wrong curry! After cooking the goat all day i was pissed that it didnt taste right to me! Does anyone use coconut milk to cook with? i use it in my rice and peas and my curries. |

Mae ploy is just a brand. They make soup bases and stuff too. My recipe pet peeve is when the writer didn't read thru their recipe and there's steps missing. |
