ETA: I draw the line at squirrel. |

Squirrel actually very good, but I guess it depends how the hunter treats it or dresses it? Anyway, there are things you can do to take away the gamey taste, whatever that is, it sounds horrible. Anyway, the squirrel I had, tasted a lot like chicken thighs cooked in gravy. The hunter was a friend of the family and I also tried venison through him, and it was the best steak I ever had. |

I scored a 26 ... which I guess is not too bad considering I am really a meat and potatoes kinda girl. |

I wonder if we could get EVERYONE who took the challenge to do this........:hmmm33::hmmm33::hmmm33: |
My brother is a big hunter so I have tried a few varieties of wild game...venison, bear and of course the squirrel when I was young. Venison is good if cooked correctly, but I didn't care for bear it is very fatty..yuck. We raise beef cattle and if you eat free range beef that isn't put up and fed a grain diet, it has a gamey taste too. ( we have raised cattle for 30+ years and I have yet been able to convice DH to keep one for our own use, he says he can't eat something he has raised:eek:) Most store bought beef is from cattle that have been penned up and fed grain only. |
