Ideas... So, I'm 5 weeks pregnant, a teacher, have a teacher/coach husband, and I'm super tired all the time right now. I am looking for some simple (healthy) recipes for the week. I cook weekdays and he cooks weekends. It's crazy right now, especially with football season. I should mention we live on a farm as well, so I have an endless supply of beef and pork. Help me ladies :p |
Well I know a super easy potato soup receipe. If you like potato soup. But it is soooooo easy! So here it goes: One bag of southern style frozen hash browns One package of country gravy mix 4 cans of chicken broth Mix together in a sauce pan. Bring to boil. Simmer for 30 minutes. And it is done! You can add other things such as bacon, cheese, etc. It really is good! Don't know how healthy. I was told it came off of Weight Watchers! |

How much do you spend on groceries? and how many people are you buying for? Was reading another forum and am seeing that families of 2 and 3 are getting away with $60 a week! There are two of us and it is at least $400 a month (so $100 a week). We don't live on Ramen and mac & cheese, but don't buy expensive cuts of meat and such either. Maybe it's that some of our health and beauty stuff is in there too. Dunno. But we have tried to figure out why we are spending so much (too much other stuff to do to do coupons reguarly). |
How much do you spend on groceries? Oops. Weird post. |
Very weird! this was supposed to post in a new thread. Ignore it please. |
Not a problem! :-) |
Congratulations! :) Wow 5 weeks? I remember when I found out I was pregnant to one of my kids at 6 weeks and it seemed like a super long pregnancy. ;) lol When you find out you are pregnant at 3 months...the remaining 6 months don't seem so bad. :D oops off topic. Do you like Italian? You can take ground beef and make one type of meat sauce for several easy dishes. You can use it for sloppy joes, easy lasagna, and a few other things. I would be eating steak every day if I had that kind of access to meat. I'm not too big on pork, although I love bacon. But it's not too healthy. :) |
A really easy go-to I use when I'm busy - crock pot pork stroganoff. A pork roast 2 cans of cream of mushroom soup garlic powder, salt and pepper to taste I do on low for at least 8 hours. When done, take out roast, let rest and slice. To soupy mixture in crock pot, add 1/2 cup of sour cream and stir in. Serve meat and sauce over egg noodles. |

OH and you can also use this recipe with beef too! :D |
Well, we were trying and I took the tests 5 days before I started. So I knew wayyyy early. LOL. I'm not sure if freaking out is normal... but I sure did! To say the least.... Those both sound yummy! I'm allllll about my crock pot! :-) My husband isn't big on leftovers (his momma spoiled him good!)! This may be the death of me. After living together 6 years and being married 3 of them... one would think he'd eat some leftovers! Lol |
Depends on what it is....mostly wet(soups) or gravy foods, I love leftovers. Just not the plain ole dry stuff though. We don't do too good in my house with leftovers. Unless its spaghetti. My kids like something new everyday. lol |
