Taco Bell - Good Food or Wasted Calories I had this debate with my personal trainer yesterday and it carried over to a Holiday party I attended last night. Taco Bell is it good food, or if we are going to eat fast food should we drive past and not drive thru? This is not to say Taco Bell is good for you, or even authentic Mexican food but in my opinion it tastes really good. It is always my first choice for fast food as opposed to; 1. KFC, I am not sure that what they serve is really even chicken. I do like their cole slaw. 2. Burger King, no way!!! I cannot even give them kudos for their fries or onion rights. 3. Chik Fil A, yes, very good but the lines are to long takes the "fast" out of fast food. 4, McDonalds, I do like their ice coffee and fries but nothing else stands out there for me. 5. Subway, I have had some bad experiences at Subway and I am not really sure I am on board with the way they store their food. Any feedback would be appreciated, now for some reason I am craving a crunchy taco and a side of rice. |
I love the taco supremes and nachos!! I say go for it. One meal won't kill you! |

I for one have not had Tavo Bell in years. If I crave a taco, I know where to go. (and no, not my mom's kitchen) Even if I wanted a disgusting, yummy mess of wanna be Mexican, I go to the same Mexican place and order up some "nachos." They come with chips, carne asada steak, tomatoes, lettuce, onions, and a big helping of yellow nacho cheese. The most disappointing thing on the menu when thinking about authenticity, but it sure hits the spot when you're craving something that is just plain bad for you. I agree with you on most of the places you mentioned. KFC is a huge disappointment. None of their sides are good. If I want good coleslaw, mashed potatoes, or mac and cheese, I might as well go to Pollo Loco. Their's is yummy! I love Chick-fil-A, but the closest one is a bit of drive. I'll pass for now. McD's is a good place for a naughty craving. Their beef flavored fries are ok, but I can really take it or leave it. Pretty much any chain I can take it or leave it. Except Pollo Loco and In-n-Out. Love those two! My uncle's wife works at Pollo Loco, so I know their beans, rice, and salsa are freshly made everyday. In-n-out is just fantastically good. period. If I'm craving chilli cheese anything, Tommy's. I have the original right down the street from me. Convenience is always a big plus for me. Now that I think about it, I favor the non-chain fast food places. I want a burger, I go to Astros. I want Mexican, Mariela's Tacos it is! Now I just need a place for everything else! :p |
I don't eat fast food often but Taco Bell holds top tier when I have a craving. Chicken grilled stuffed burrito is one of my favorites! I say go for it!! |
I like Taco Bell, my sis and I call it Taco Hell because she always feels like crap after eating there. :p An occasional trip 'South of the Border' is ok. ;) My fav from the list is Chic-Fil-A. It is worth the wait for me, but usually they move pretty fast. What I order at Subway is not really healthy so it sorta defeats the purpose of going there to eat healthy. |
LOL. On one of my anniversaires. (I think it was the 25th) dh asked me were I wanted to eat at. My reply? Taco Bell. Afterwards, he took me a a jewelry store and told me to pick out a diamond ring I liked. (I did have a spending limit) I chose a beautiful tanzanite with diamond accents. I will never forget that anniversary including the trip to Taco Bell. Everyone laughed when they hear I wanted Taco Bell. |
I love taco bell! Sure if I want authentic mexican I go elsewhere but I love taco bell for quick mexican. The cost of eating out is going up however so we are budgeting in our eating out trips now so they are less frequent and I am more choosy when I do go. |
Blegh I hate Taco Bell! I'm mainly vegetarian so that's why. The only thing I like form there is chips and cheese, and the cinimon twists. Now I love BK. Pretty much the only meat I like is chicken, so I love their chicken fries and the actual fries are my favorite fast food fries. I also love Wendy's. I always get the chicken nuggets and a baked potato. I love their Toffe frosty too. I feel like we are exact oppisites becuase I like KFC too! The only thing I like it their chicken pot pie, and mashed potatoes. Like I said, exact oppisties. Geez, sorry for the novel on fast food... |
I LOVED Taco Bell when I lived on the east coast because they were hard to find. It was this magical experience every time I discovered a new location. Now that I'm in California and they are easy to find, the bloom is off the rose. I think Subway is the healthiest option fast food wise, and in keeping with that, it also has the least flavorful, least satisfying food. IMO, KFC is disgusting. It's just congealed grease molded into different shapes. I think a Taco Salad or a bean burrito is okay, as long as you get the salad without the shell. |
Oooh, totally forgot about In 'n Out! How could I forget about In 'n Out? Animal Style, baby! |
I like Taco Bell -- I always get the chicken quesadillas and I love those cinnamon twist things they have. McDonald's is the closest fast food place to my house so when I'm craving bad food, or needing something quick, that's typically where I go. I looovee their chicken nuggets so I just will get myself a 6 piece kids Happy Meal with one of their Strawberry Banana smoothies. <3 When I'm craving Mexican though, I go for Chipotle. Not a drive-through but super fast service, AMAZING food, and it's actually good FOR you. :) |
I love Taco Bell. Their mild sauce tastes so good to me that we buy it by the glass bottle (found in Mexican section at the grocery store) and I drink it...:eek::eek: Pretty thankful to be a vegetarian now though because I don't think their meat was doing me a bit of good. Pretty gross stuff. Not sure why it's even appetizing. Now I just get tacos without meat. |
When my husband and I were first married, we moved to Hood River, OR. There were no fast food places there at the time...1978...dates me I know...We would drive 60 miles into Portland every once in a while to have Taco Bell. It was a treat along with the beautiful drive along the Columbia Gorge. Funny....about 3 years ago my daughter married into a family that owns Taco Bells here in So. Calif. We don't eat there often, but it is still a treat once in a while! |
