Going rate for cleaning It's me! Bodhi'sMom popping in with a question about dental cleaning. Bodhi needs 2 extra canines pulled and a cleaning. Banfield gave us a printout for an estimate. It's an itemized list: The cleaning itself (listed as Dental Prophylaxis Canine Package) is 170.96. The "Extract Immature Canine" is $100.00. Anesthesia (Torbugesic and Butorphanol) is $36.00. Anti-inflammatory (Diphenhydtamine) id $18.00. Could you tell me how much you've paid? --Now to do a search for anesthesia. I know there are some strong opinions on this. |
I have paid close to $150.00 for what you have listed. And around here that is a good price. |
Oops! I suppose that I should have requested that all comments be posted by those who live in Washington state. Sorry about that! |
Dental prices We haven't had Auggie's teeth professionally cleaned, but he did have to have 2 teeth pulled (baby teeth that did not and would not fall out), and the prices you've listed for pulling the teeth, and the other costs (being put under, etc) seem about the same. We also paid extra for some pre-anesthesia blood testing, which I think was supposed to check his kidney and liver functions, which can be negatively impacted by being put under. At one point I understood what the tests were for, but I'm a little fuzzy on it now! We take Auggie to Elliot Bay Animal Hospital on 15th Avenue NW. The techs there LOVE him (even when he's bad, which is kinda often) and we love them; we also love Dr. Crow (AG's "primary care" doctor, who also operated on and fixed our blue cat's slipping kneecap a couple of years back--she's now the bionic kitty!) |
Ah yes, the pre-testing. It's been mentioned before. I'll have to inquire about that. The bionic kitty, huh? That gave me a chuckle. I'm glad you've found a vet that demonstrates so much adoration for your animals. The Banfield staff has been very patient with Bodhi's growls. The scars on their arms tell me that they've put up with worse. Maybe it's just luck that an animal likes the vet staff, heh. I won't give up hope on that! Thanks much for you input. :) |
