Here he is! http://i906.photobucket.com/albums/a...e/41a80156.jpg http://i906.photobucket.com/albums/a...e/776ec2a4.jpg I took those yesterday at the park before I took him home and gave him a bath. He had a lot of eye crust! He is so skinny! His previous owner said that he was a 'picky eater'. She was feeding him Beneful dog food and I guess he was only picking out the red pieces? |
He is really cute. I wish you the best with him. He only eats the red pieces? Sounds like a yorkie:rolleyes: |
He's adorable! Congrats!! |

Beneful might be the reason that he has eye gook and if he is only eating the red pieces that might even be a bigger reason for tear stains. Red dye is known to cause tear staining. My suggestions would be to eventually switch him to something without the red dye. |
Congratulations - he's soooo cute! |
We're slowly switching him to Solid Gold. That food cleared up quite a few problems for my poodle. Also, his mouth is so tiny maybe the red pieces were the only ones fitting in his mouth. He's so little I can't help but be super concerned about his weight. |
Thanks for the pm and I'm tickled that you were lucky enough to find your lil' Yorkie:animal36boy! Btw...what did you name him? |
I think we are naming him Iggy after Iggy Pop because that's who he looks like! |
LOL! He does look like Iggy Pop. Congratulations. |
Very happy thread. It made my day ! Congrats ! |
I have a sad update. About a month ago Iggy started having seizures. He had a massive one and we rushed him to Dove Lewis which is an emergency vet in Portland. We ended up having to put him down because they didn't think that he was going to recover. Over the 2 1/2 years I had him he became the best dog I've ever had. He was with me through so many hard and good times and was always an amazing comfort. I don't think I'll ever want any other kind of dog. Yorkies are so in tune with their owners I can see why you're all addicted. |
I am so sorry to hear of your loss. May Iggy rest in peace. |
Thank you. I keep asking why this happened because at our last vet visit everything checked out fine. I have had nightmares where I've tried different things to keep him alive. He tried to hang on but in the end he was so scared and in pain so we decided to give him some peace. I talked to a woman recently who told me that she thinks Yorkies only really have an eight or nine year lifespan. I came back to this site to see if that were true and of course it's not. There's no reason that Yorkies cannot live 15 years plus. |
There is a beautiful Ch sired female listed by Amazing Yorkies....check it out. Healthy dog, beautiful dog, from a well known, well respected breeder and show person. |
So sorry for your loss |
