Where do you take your Yorkies? Last year, I took Gracie with me to the Issaquah Farmer's market. No one seemed to care that she was there. This year I tried taking both girls in their stroller. There was a huge sign that said NO DOGS. What markets, fairs, festivals etc. in the Seattle and Eastside areas allow dogs? I hate to get there and then have to turn around and take them home. I have tried emailing some of the Farmer's Markets and there has been no response. I just want to take my girls some place other than the pet store, the home store, the park and walking around outdoor malls like Redmond Town Center and University Village. I believe last year the Bellevue Arts Festival allowed dogs. I hope they do this year. |
I've taken my dogs to Salmon Days in Issaquah. Lots of dogs there! I even took one of my baby parrots, as I was hand feeding it every couple of hours. |
As far I know know if the farmers market is a "certified farmers market" then dogs are not allowed for health reasons. As far as fairs they usually say no dogs but I think if you have them in a stroller or a bag you are fine. I take Teddi to the mall all the time and have never had any problems...we actually have people in a few stores that ask us to make sure to stop in whenever we are at the mall so we kind of have a circuit! |
Don't you wish more places would get dog friendly. Guess some just don't want to deal with larger dogs or have problems or the relief thing to deal with cleaning up. Some people don't think about others cleaning up after there dogs. I have seen that in the pet stores. When there dogs have accidents they just walk off and don't attempt to clean up. |

We are up in Whistler B.C. right now and there are dogs everywhere. Big ones, little ones, all breeds. Usually we see them in some of the outdoor patios, but not so far this year. Not sure if they've changed the regs. Our time share does not allow any pets and there are no boarding kennels in Whistler. My DH keeps asking "so why can't I bring my dogs to Whistler?" Our pups are better behaved than a lot of peoples children. |
We go to University Village a lot, it's quite pet friendly. Besides that, just the local parks. Magnuson Park has lots of trails, and a small dog park too. Or you can just walk on lots of different paths if you want to avoid other dogs... I would think the street fairs that happen yearly, like on Broadway or University Way, would allow dogs, since it's all on the sidewalk and "public" property. I'm pretty sure all the events at the Seattle Center, like Bumbershoot and the arts festivals all allow dogs. There were a ton of dogs of all kinds last weekend at Bite of Seattle at the Seattle Center. Do you ever go to the Seattle or Eastside Yorkie Meetups that occur monthly? |

I believe the Eastside meet up is the second Saturday of every month. Go to meetup.com, do a search for Yorkshire Terrier groups and you should find both the Seattle and Eastside meet ups. |

Hello! Thought I should bring this thread to life again. :D I brought Ruby to the Southcenter Mall. Mall security seemed fine with her and she was such a hit at MAC! So many people were interested in her breed. Yorkie, of course! :) |

MAC as in the high-end cosmetics line. It's in the new part of the mall. I understand the confusion, LOL. She wasn't walking or in a stroller. I just held her in my arms. I passed by 2 security guys and they didn't stop me or anything. In fact, one of them were smiling at us. My friend who works at the mall later told me that small dogs come to the mall all the time. I don't think dogs can WALK in the mall though because of the whole marking and relieving thing, but I'm not sure.:confused: |
