Maya Update
 
We had a pretty rough night and a scary morning with Maya, but she is better now. She had been sick during the night with vomiting and diahrea (bloody) and then I took her in for her liver biopsy at 8 am and the doctor called me at 10 and said that Maya was not able to breathe on her own and that they had the crirical care doctor with her right then and they said her heart had not stopped just her breathing and they were breathing for her. We discussed the possible outcomes and decided that if her heart would stop to not restart as she is pretty sick. 20 minutes later they called back and said she had made a great come back and could I come see her right now. I did and she was doing well so they are keeping her and I can maybe get her home late tonight!!! So keep her in your prayers thanks

Oh my gosh, Patti!! That's so scary :( How is she doing? You and Maya are in our thoughts and prayers...Poor little girl!!

OMG that is scary! I'm glad she recovered and I hope she's able to come home tonight and stay healthy. I'm keeping her in my prayers.

Thanks So far she is doing ok. I have to call back at 5:30 to get an update. Unfortunately they were only able to get ons biopsy as Maya stopped breathing. They had wanted to get 3, but the vet feels she does have chirrosis. I will discuss prognosis once she is out of the woods. Thanks for the prayers.

Patti, the liver shunt/mvd group on yahoo groups has some members that have yorkies with cirrhosis. You might join and see what kind of info you can get from other members or the files section...http://pets.groups.yahoo.com/group/L...d_MVD_Support/

You must have been scared out of your wits!!!!! Glad Maya came through, but I don't envy the decisions you've yet to make. Prayers and hugs coming your way.

I just got off the phone from the critical care doc and she said Maya is like looking at a miracle. She is panting, barking and want's to come home. So I can pick her up at 7 since the vet thinks she will rest better at home. SHe said you would never know she had a near death experience and wasn't breathing on her own for over 30 minutes. She still is a very sick dog but at least she acn be home with us for now. Thanks for all the prayers

Well Maya is home but she is not doing so well. She won't eat. The vet said they couldn't get her to eat either and it is the only way I can get her stomach pill in her as she will bite me if I try and force it. She had a little bloody diahrrea and won't sleep. She just lays there with her head up, which is what the vet said she was doing there and they hoped by sending her home she would relax. We have a rough road ahead I am afraid. Please keep her in your prayers.

Oh, Patti, I wish I could do something to help...I'm sure you've tried everything to get her to take her pill...have you tried putting it in a treat that she can't resist?

I feel so bad for you and little Maya. I had thought the biopsy was going to be Monday. Bless her sweet little heart. You must have been so scared hearing about her quitting breathing...and still scared at what the tests show. How is Maya doing now? I'm thinking of you and Maya and praying for you both! Sending heartfelt hugs!

Yes you did. She has lost a ton of her coat and 3 lbs. She is finally excited to eat again and relaxing more. She is still so sad looking. I just keep hugging her. She was my one baby that was big enough to give a big hug to and now she is just so bony. I will keep you all posted as to her biopsy results. Thanks for your concern and prayers.

Thanks everyone. Maya had a bad day today. SHe wouldn't eat this morning and then pooped nearly all blood. She looks so sad. She did eat a little while ago but is not herself. I hope to get the results by Wednesday. ALthough my gut feeling is she has something else going on that they haven't hit on yet.
