Good to hear that most people have success with cats and yorkies getting along. I guess the best thing to do is get the cat when it is young and raise him/her around the dogs. Love all the pictures from everyone too! If I end up getting a kitten (if I do it won't be for another month or so), I'll be sure to pick pictures. |

Our baby Yorkie Mousya and cat Cameron are just in love! When we just got our baby Mousya we were worried that her and cats would not get along, but she just loves cats and they don't mind her. Her best friend is Camo. They always together. :) Took a video of them :)) |
Pita is such a wild woman and looooves chasing my 2 cats...the cats however are not so fond of her, lol. They have gotten more tolerant of Pita but she's still so young, 8mos...maybe when she stops pouncing on them so much they will be friends :) |
Yes, she is still very young and she wants to play with them. they'll get used to Pita in time and might even become best pals! Give it some time! :) Love Yorkies! Well, cats too :) |
My 2 maine coon cats get along perfectly with the Yorkies but not always with each other. |
I would suggest a kitten, Mine got along great with the kitten but they do not like my older Cat, Baby, They chase her every chance they get. |
Bubbles and April get along great. They share a common love of wanting to eat our bird. It's funny to see them romping. The one thing you won't see them doing is sleeping together. |
Bebe likes to chase cats too sometimes, but it's because she did not see them for a while (may be they were sleeping or outside chilling); she wants to give them lots of kisses to say "hello" and "I've missed you" LOL Funny about the bird! :0) |
What an adorable video. When the yorkies escape down to the barn, they love to play with the barn cats, but the cats don't love to play with the yorkies. :D |
Our cats were still young (older teenage kittens) when we brought Couver home and they get along great. I would suggest getting a younger cat to help them acclimate to eachother while they are still young. |
All of my yorKies are great with my 2 cats. The cats get along better with the dogs than each other. I also have 2 foster kittens who are adjusting well to my cats and the yorkie pack. Kittens hisses and the dogs walk away. They learned as puppies if a cat hisses walk away or the next step will be a sore head and seeing stars. My cats are + 16 pound Maine coons. Make the introduction slow. I gave the fosters there own room at first so my pets could investigate the smells under the door. Then I opened the door and stacked several baby gate on top of each other so they could touch noses with my pets and met face to face. It would also bring the other pets in one ata time on leashes so they could not chase the kitten for short 5 to 10 minute sesssions. Then I left the doorway with only one baby gate. The kittens were able to come out and go back as they wished when it was home otherwise they were together in there room. It has now been close to 2 months the baby gate is still up in the doorway of their room but the door is never closed. This way they still have a safe place. |
