Chinese imperial shih zhu Know anything?
 
Does anyone know about these small shih zhu's? Bred to be smaller at 7-8 lbs or smaller?
I just think they are so darling! SO many colors. Right now I dont know the first thing about them. Thought maybe someone here had some good knowledge of the breed. I know shih zhus usually are bigger then 7 or 8 lbs. WOndered if anyone owned or is owned by one.:p

I have a little one. She usually weighs about 8 to 8 1/2 pounds. I will try to add her picture. Her name is Mikki. Not the best picture of her but as you can see she has eyes that melt my heart. She has a wonderful temperament as well. :aimeeyork :animal-pa

There is a breeder of Imperial Shih Tzu. I don't know her but alot of breeders follow her whelping guide.

I just love Karen's website. It has so much information on it no matter what breed you own. I know someone that has two of her Shih Tzu's and they are magnificent. Karen has a "tiny" Shih Tzu show up in some of her litters. It's the same as a Yorkie breeder having a tiny one in a regular litter. She doesn't breed for them.

The AKC breed standard for Shih Tzu is 9 to 16 pounds. I didnt buy Mikki as an imperial. I bought her because I wanted one on the smaller end of the standard. She is not that much smaller then 9 pounds!! She is just a year old so could still gain a bit. She is healthy and one of the sweetest dogs I have ever owned. First picture I have posted on this site - a mistake I wont repeat!

She is adorable! Why do you think it was a mistake posting her picture? We love pictures of all dogs here. :)

your shih tzu is very very pretty. i know why you regret posting her picture or even mentioning her but don't. we love all babies here and yours is gorgeous.

Awww........very cute. One of my friends raises Shih-tzus and a friend of hers does also, but I am not sure what they are. I had some pictures (well, I thought), but I couldn't find them! ((sorry))

I saw the most fantastic lil dog while in the parking lot to go shopping. SHe was little about 6 lbs and I asked her owner what she was. I tapped on the glass of her car, I was so intrigued with the lil dog. She probaby thought I was a nut as I can be, but she was nice and talked to me.She said she was chinese imperial shih tzu. I just had never heard of one, plus I dont know anything about shih tzu's period.
She said she was 4 yrs old. Asked if she was healthy and she said "very" I asked because she told me she was a shih tzu just smaller then average and I figured like yorkies, the lil lady was probably not standard. But anyway she was very sweet, white as snow with blue points and a lil brown. Very pretty.
