We have a new Friend! 3 Attachment(s) My husband brought this little guy home to me yesterday. We named him Sniggles. He right now feels like a bag of bones and skin, so we are working on fattening him up. I am NOT a big cat person (forgive me cat lovers!) and because my yorkies are my babies, I have always refused to have a cat in the house because I was always worried that they would scratch my baby's eyes out! And I didn't want to deal with a litter box. Sniggles has been GREAT! He wasn't bothered by the furkids AT ALL...it was like he came in and accepted that this is THEIR home and he is the newbie. Gizmo had already warmed up to him and has taken it upon herself to be his "groomer" and we have caught he licking his ears. lol He doesn't have his adult k-9's yet (are they called that for cats?) so we are guessing he is about 4-6 months old? We have to fatten him up for sure! I ran down and got him some 9 lives and some Purina indoor cat formula...but I really DO NOT KNOW much of ANYTHING about having an indoor cat....so any advice on care/food etc is appreciated! I did grab a litter box but when picking the litter OMG  I didn't know there WERE so many different ones! I got Scoop Away? Is that a good one LOL (I feel like a total dolt here asking LOL) Oh and we definitely need to get neutered LOL I don't want to have him start spraying lol I got a couple pics...and my favorite is of Autumn, Max, and Sniggles sleeping on the couch together! I really really was worried about Autumn because seh HATES cats! but she seems to totally accept this one! Oh and now for his NEATEST feature....HE HAS SIX TOES!!!!!!! So we are going to talk to the vet and see if there is ANY DNA testing that can be done to find out if he is a Hemmingway Cat:eek:  :) :D |

How cute! Good for you on taking him in and loving him! I am sure he will be a good pal to the Yorkies in the house! |

Cute pic. What's a Hemmingway Cat? |
Here is a link for you to read about the Hemingway Cats...I am posting part of the article here. http://cats.about.com/od/felinegenet...polydactyl.htm Oh and the extra toes I think are actually a fault, not a valued quality. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Many-Toed Polydactyl Cats Ernest Hemingway was an amazing man, with many talents and interests. He was also an inveterate cat-lover, because he admired the spirit and independence of cats. Hemingway acquired his first cat from a ship's captain in Key West, Florida, where he made his home for a number of years. This cat, which may have been a Maine Coon, had extra toes (technically known as polydactyl, latin for "many digits"). Today, approximately 60 cats, half of them polydactyl, make their home in the Ernest Hemingway Museum and Home, in Key West, protected by the terms of his will. At least some of those cats are descendents of Hemingway's first cat, and are given fanciful names, as he once did, after movie stars and even characters in his book. The cats of the Hemingway Museum are so popular and so well-known, that the nickname "Hemingway Cats" has often been given to polydactyls. |
That is so neat!! Let us know how it turns out. :) |
Cute pictures. |
Don't know much about cats, but that is very interesting. |
Well, he sure is pretty, and I love that fourth pic of all the furkids sleeping together, awwww:love: That'd be pretty cool if he turned out to be a Hemingway, interesting! |
