My sisters 3 dogs got loose this morning..... My youngest sister's shepherd, boxer and border collie crawled under the fence of their new outdoor pen this morning and made their way 1/4 mile down the road to the neighbor's farm. Somehow they got into the hog pen and were chasing the pigs. The neighbor shot and killed the shepherd and boxer. The border collie made it home. Animal control came to the house with the other 2 dogs in the back of their truck. They were very courteous to my brother-in-law and offered to let him see them. He declined because he has been ill and thought it would cause him to have another heart attack. The boxer was his baby, she was 8 yrs old. The shepherd belonged to my 11 yr old niece, Madison. Honey slept with her every night. When she came home from school this afternoon her family was waiting for her. She came in the house and looked at them and asked where Honey was. Honey waited for her to come home from school everyday. Please, prayers for Madi tonight. The whole family is hurting so much. Everyone is blaming themselves. Little Madison just knows that her Honey is gone. Please, prayers for Madi. Thank you. |
Awww poor doggies! That family is in my prayers |
Omgsh that is horrible!!! How could you shoot a dog?! Unless it was a physical threat to myself or another human there is no way I could every hurt a dog!! I can't imagine!! If Stump could get a hold of some pigs he would chase after them too.. that doesn't mean he would ever hurt a human!! |
OMG! That is awful! I am sorry to hear this. We live in the country and I know that the farmers have the right to shoot if the dogs are "ganging up" on their livestock........I think that is horrible, but then again, I guess I understand that law. Those poor babies ----RIP you precious things! The family is in our thoughts and prayers! |
The new 20x40ft pen that they had installed had one spot in the back where there was a small dip in the ground. He had taken them out in the morning and put them in the pen and went back into the house. When he got to the dining room he looked out and they were gone. The people who installed the pen are coming back to cement the bottom of the fence to the ground. They understand why the dogs were shot. The farmer had the right to protect his animals. It's just that my niece and nephew are young and they are hurting so much. There's nothing more I can do but pray for strength for them. I put this on last night because I needed help for them. Thank you to all that read this. |
I am so terribly sorry. I cannot understand anyone who can shoot a pet without first trying to handle it another way! I will keep you all in my prayers, especially the children. God bless & comfort you all. |
My heart goes out to that family -- so sorry to hear about the loss of their pets. Trying to empathize with both sides but I just can't see shooting the dogs even if they were after the pigs. A pitcher of cold water thrown at them probably could have sent them home. I had to do that with a big dog that would not stay away from our yard. He was digging under our fence and not being too friendly as he did it. One pitcher of cold water and he has not done it since. |
There are to many trigger happy men in the world!!Our dog just got shot last weekend. You are in our prayers!! |
