RIP Buddy
 
Yesterday afternoon my Husband took our dog out to the farm just like he does all the time to feed and water the chickens.Buddy was running around the field having a good time.The neighbor that lives out there mistuke Buddy for a coyote and shot him,killing him instantly.We are all pretty much still in shock over the ordeal.
Buddy was one of the best dog's that i have ever known.We rescued him from the pound 3 years ago.He was a very beloved pet to us and our children but mostly to my son who will be 4 in Feb.Buddy was his best friend.They would play and play for hours.It was so fun to watch them wrestle.Buddy was so obediant and he watched his family very closely.Everyone always comented on how beautiful he was.We will miss him so much.We love you baby Rest in peace.[http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v244/purple3198/Familypictures364-

I am so sorry for your loss. How horrible for you all. Did you report the neighbor for shooting your dog?

I am so sorry to hear of this target loss. Nothing we can say will make it better, time is the healer. Take care of yourself and your little 4 year old.

So sorry to hear about Buddy. I'd be a little leary of someone who mistook him for a coyote.

What a shame......the neighbor does not need a darn gun........what if he would have missed that and hit your husband........sorry, but it really makes me sick.....

I am so sorry for your 4 year old.....:(

Thats what we were thinking!My husband said that he shot him just as he was running around the corner to him and was about 4 foot away!We did not call the cop's as my husband thought that he did not do it on purpose.That guy's lucky i was not there,i would of punched his face in!I am leary about taking the kid's out there anymore.If he miss took an Australian shepperd for a coyote,what would he miss take the kids for?He said he would buy us a new dog but that doesent make up for what he did.

OMG! That is horrible news! I am sooooo very sorry for your loss! Buddy looked nothing like a coyote! Was this guy shooting towards your house?! That is scary!!! Buddy, what a handsome guy he was! Beautiful! You and your family are in our thoughts and prayers tonight! RIP Buddy!

I am soooo sorry. He looks like such a loving and compassionate dog.

Your neighbors should really be more careful, I would be outraged even though I know it was unintentional. This is a tragedy and I can't express my sorrow. My sympathy goes out to your family.

I hope your son will pull through this tough incident.

Thank you everyone.No he was not shooting by our house.Our barn is about 2 miles away from our house but it is in a field right by this guys house.He also has a lot of farm animals and cyotes have been killing them,but its just a freak accident i guess.Weather he was realy thinking Buddy looked like a cyote or just shooting a roaming dog he should pay more attention and not be so trigger happy.I hate people that are just out to kill anything that walks by them!I still cant beleve that he's gone.I tryed emptying his food dishes last night and i found myself filling them back up and putting them out again because it makes me feel beter just seeing them.We only had Lily for 1 week befor this happened but last night she went and got into his cage and layed down and just whined and whined.We all miss him very much and it will never be the same without him around.I truly loved that dog with all my heart!

OMG I'm so sorry - Buddy did NOT deserve that....people are too gun crazy - how can someone mistake a dog for a coyote ?

On the flip side - if you do get another dog one day - maybe get them a bright ORANGE harness to wear out so the trigger happy neighbors will know its a dog not a predator ??

I am so sorry! Buddy was so beautiful and I can hardly believe that the guy mistook him for a coyote. God bless and comfort you all.

Buddy was a beautiful dog. Thinks that he is now at rainboww brdige with all the other dogs.
As for your neighbor, I would had probably lost my temper and shoot him right there. So he doesn't confused more animals for coyotes.:mad: :mad:

How horrible! Seeing that in print sent goose bumps down my spine. I also have a Buddy! Was Buddy a Yorkie? How in the name of heavens do you
take a Yorkie for a cayotte? Besides every wild animal has a right to life.
He should find another way to keep his live stock safe. I give you credit for your calmness. I would be off the wall.
He is lucky to have you for a neighbor. I am very sorry for your loss.

No Buddy was not a yorkie,he was an Australian Shepperd/cattle dog mix.

I understand it was an accident, but OMG!!! The dog was on your property WITH your husband. I'd question his coyote story. Do you guys normally have a good relationship with this neighbor? I'm not trying to be rude, but come on. He knew about buddy he should have thought twice. It's not like Buddy was around his animals either.

I'm sorry, stuff like this really hits me. I'll stop. You have my deepest sympathy.

Well it's both of our property's.I know nothing of this man but my husband has known his since he was a little boy.I doubt his coyote story also,i think he knew it was a dog he was shooting just not who's dog.Basterd!It makes me more and more mad when i think about it.This man has come to the house and brought us flowers and told the kids how sorry he was and has offered to buy a new dog,so he does show some sympathey.Kid's are amazing at forgiving.Tyler will never forget though,just this morning he was holding Lily(Our yorkie baby)and i was in the kitchen and he says to her "Im sorry Buddy is dead Lily but he is with all the other dog's in heaven".Then he came and got in my lap and told me his heart was breaking.Time will heal but we will never forget.

I'm still really sorry. I guess at this point you need to be thankful that he didn't mistake your husband for a deer. Those stories always amaze me too.

He told you his heart was breaking? :( That's SO sad. Poor little guy. :cry:

Thanks you all.We went to walmart last night and had a picture of him and my son blew up and hung it on the wall.My son said he realy liked it and now he can see him all the time.

And secondly, OMG does this just P!SS ME OFF!!!!!! Excuse my french. I would be BEYOND FURIOUS if I were you!!! I would report that neighbor of yours so darn fast he wouldn't even know what hit him!!! Who in the HECK goes around shooting guns on the spur of the moment like that!!! He could have hit your husband, or one of your kids...OMG!!! :eek:

I would LET ME NEIGHBOR HAVE IT if he EVER came so close as to pointing ANY type of gun in the direction of MY house!!!!!! Oh dear Lord help me that neighbor would probably be missing a few parts....

It was NOT his place to point a gun in the direction of your house trying to shoot ANYTHING - HE HAD NO RIGHT. :mad: :mad: :mad:

Well it was no wear near our house.Our house is not even on the same property but it was out barn.And trust me i am furious beyond words but its not like i can just go over there and beat him up.The first thing i wanted to do when i found out was kick his teeth in but thats not realy the right thing to do.We could of called the cops but did not,instead we gave him 90day's to vacate the property and find some where else to live.We cant have a trigger happy freak living on our property.Hopefuly he learned he cant just shoot s**t because its walking by his house.
