Those are adorable!!! Those ears!!!bet they can hear everything!! they only get to 3 lbs? so are they a wild animal that has been domesticated? sorry for all the questions but, I find this very interesting! I remember when ferrets first came into the area..you couldn't buy them in mass and they HAD to be neutered...are these little cuties spayed/neutered when you get them? You will have to post more pics when you bring him/her home! |
The local animal shelter has alot of cats, there are so many that need good homes.:) My mom has 3 Bengal Cats that she adopted from a Bengal Rescue. They are beautiful cats. I would love to have a cat but I am so allergic to them:( Good Luck on your kitty search..... Michele & Bailey |

We have always had at least two cats in our home... As a matter of fact we just lost our "Ben" last Friday night due to heart failure, he was only 2 1/2 and due to his color, found out that they do not live past 6 years...My breeder has now halted breeding to the whites.. He was a Shorthair Oriental.. Pure white , he was my husband constant companion, love the Siamese breed all that talking..:cat: Try the breed rescues, good luck....... |
ohhh ihave russian blues and they are wonderful, i never find any cat hair and they are so sweet and they love everyone, they are really big though, my boy is huge hes probably twice three times frankies size |
oh SHOOT GUYS... You all are saying persians shed so much and truthfully I have a bunch of them and it depends on everything. I have 2 that hardly shed more then a Yorkie and 4 others that shed a bit more. SHANA... if you really are interested in the Persian... Please just PM me and I can give you some tips on one that sheds less and what to look for.:) |
Shana, I love cats too and I can relate to your excitement at changing your husband's mind--my husband is adament about not getting a cat-- he says he does not like them, but maybe in five years I will change his mind too! All cats shed to some degree but I have my eye on tonkinese cats http://www.cfainc.org/breeds/profiles/tonkinese.html or burmese cats http://www.cfainc.org/breeds/profiles/burmese.html With both of these breeds the shedding is supposed to be manageable, allergens on the low side and they both have nice personalities. My first pick would be a sable burmese myself! If you do find a cat in a shelter I would recommend petting the cat and even brushing it to see how badly it sheds. That seems to be the best way to figure out if a particular cat is a heavy shedder. It just seems to vary from cat to cat, I had a brother and sister cat and there was even a difference between the two. I used to brush my girl cat and I would end up with piles of hair from her undercoat as big as a kitten and she kept shedding no matter how often I brushed her! Good luck on your search! Erin |

While in THEORY this is a good idea ... it is not always an indicator. If they rarely brush or the cat is on cheap food... it will shed lots more.:) |
1 Attachment(s) This is Kona, our Maine Coon. She just turned one and will grow for another two years. She is a great cat and sheds very little; her fur is like butter, super soft. I highly recommend Maines, but no doubt different Maines might shed more. |
3 Attachment(s) I would try a shelter too..i go every few weeks to my local shelter, and walk the dogs that are there...even though i love dogs, cats are my animals, i cant go in the section where there is cats, because i would break down...i have 6 moggies, and 2 persians....kittens get homes more than adults, cause they are so small and cute... My friend got an adult cat a few months ago, and she is so cute, really nice, i just dont know how she ended up there, she was spayed, and microchipped before she got her. |

My dad has 3 cats right now that he is looking to give away. He lives by Tulsa, so not that far away. He & my mom are getting divorced & doesn't want to keep the cats since he doesn't like them much to begin with & my mom can't keep them in her new apt. They all live with a 60lb pit bull & don't mind dogs at all. There is one male (black & white) named, Hank, that I think you would like. He's very sweet & talkative & loves to be around people. Let me know if your interested & I can talk to my dad & even get you some pictures. My sister might be able to meet you half-way if your interested.:) |
