:( I'm sad.
 
I came home and went upstairs to put some clothes away and I went over to check on my hamster, Noelle. and she was dead. :( I know you guys are probably like "freak. it's just a hamster." but I got her 2 1/2 years ago (on Christmas eve, hence the name Noelle) I'm really sad. :(

I'm so sorry for you loss. I had a guinea pig and he died about 5 months ago. I was devastated because I was just so used to him being around the house. It doesn't matter what they are what matters is how much they mean to you. I cried when my guinea pig died and I blamed myself because I didn't check up on him that morning. When my BF woke up he found him laying down and he knew something was wrong. My guinea pig even went to the vet.

I know how you feel Megan. When I lost my Guinea Pig, Dusty, I was heart broken. :( Rest in peace little Noelle.

I'm so sorry to hear about Noelle. :( She sure seems like, she was a special little friend. I'm sorry you are feeling sad.

I'm so sorry Megan!! Its hard to lose a family member. I get sad when my fish dies. Did Noelle pass due to old age? Is 21/2 years a long life for a hamster?

It may have just been old age. 2-3 years is the average age for a hamster, but it seems really soon because most of the ones that I've had lived 3-5.

Hamsters and gerbils life spans are generally two years. they're lucky to live longer. I'm so sorry for your loss. I wish there were something I could do. and Guinea Pigs life spans are 6-8 years.

You must have been a great Mommy to your little Noelle if she lived that long. We lost Alphalfa Sprout (guinea pig) and L.L. Cool Ham (hamster) shortly after that just before we moved here in April. Last week Fred (carinval gold fish that was every color but gold) tried to make a break for the pond a couple blocks from here but only got as far as the throw rug and got tangled in the fringe. We looked all over the place for him before we found him. He blended in perfectly. Losing any pet is sad because it has made a special place in your heart and then that special little piece is broken off. You should never feel like a "freak" and no one who loves animals will think of you or anyone else that way for grieving the loss of a pet. I have cried over losing fish, mice, gerbils, hamsters, rabbits, guinea pigs (we had one for about 11 years and he was grown when we got him), cats, dogs, racoons, birds, crabs, turtles, and other wild animals. If you love an animal enough to raise it and be responsible for it's life, then that creature deserves to be missed and grieved over. God will be watching over Noelle now. God Bless you Megan.:cry8:

I'm so sorry for your loss Megan. I loved hamsters when I was younger (I had 6 of them!!!), so I understand how you're feeling.

Oh Megan, I am so sorry that Noelle died. It does sound like you gave her a good life, though. No one thinks you are strange for being upset, I cried when the fish in my outside pond died. We tend to always feel like it is our fault for some reason.

Give your pup extra hugs & kisses. It will help you get through your sadness. :)

Sorry about your guinea pig. I used to have two. One night I was about to go to the mall. I went over to say goodbye to them. I pet them and the male was dead. Well I was hysterical crying (I think I was in 9th or 10th grade). I said to my mom (I deny it to this day, but she says I said it) that we have to get an autopsy done on him so I know why he died so I could make sure that the other guinea pig didn't die. I don't remember saying it!

I'm sorry for you loss...I cried when my daughter's hamster cookie died. She lived 2 1/2 years also.

Oh Megan, so sorry for your loss. All of God's creatures, big and small, have the ability to mean so much to each of us right when we need it. I am sure that Noelle brought you much joy. Know that you gave her everything that she could have wanted while she was here with you. What more could a hamster, dog, cat, etc., wish for. Don't feel bad about having a heart that can hold so much love and concern for so many! Take care.

I am so sorry! My Russian white is very affectionate. I have had her for 2.5 years and know their lifespan is about that long. I check on her everyday because I am terrified of losing her. :(

I just wanted to check in and how you were doing, Megan. I know how much it hurts, but time will ease the pain. And now matter what, do not be afraid to shed a tear. Right now it will be a tear of sadness. Eventually, it will become a tear of happy memories. So sorry, sweetie. Sending a big hug to you.:bighug:

I'm doing alright. It's pretty weird not having her here in her cage. I always have at least 1 hamster......so it's strange to not hear the wheel going or something.

I'm hoping that I can talk my parents into letting me have another hamster. My room is just so different without one. :(
