Toe Cancer My schnauser, Harley was just diagnosed with cancer in the bone of one of his toes. Has anyone ever heard or experienced this? The vet said it needed to come off sooner than later - it's swollen and infected and he keeps licking it. He has arthiritis in his other paw so this is his good paw. |
I'm sorry to hear about your schnauzer. I've never heard of this. I'll keep you in my prayers. |

i've seen this a couple times while i was working at the vet hospital. I'd take the toe off as soon as possible. your pup will be fine without it and you probably won't even notice after a while. you don't want the cancer to spread do you? take it off. he'll be fine |
Thanks Kellie -that's how I felt but it took some convincing of my husband. I'm calling the vet tomorrow. |
Sounds like you're really lucky, if you can get rid of the cancer just by removing a toe. I would remove it as soon as possible. I had a great dane that had cancer on her ear and we just had to remove the lump not the ear and she was just fine and lived a very long life. Keep us posted on Harley and when he's going in. |
Thanks Lacy's mom, I'm taking him in tomorrow. I'll update when I find something out. He's 12 years old and was my wedding present.:) |
I have never heard of "toe cancer". Good luck at the vet tomorrow. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers. |
I never heard of it, but I knew someone a long time ago who had to have a toe removed on her spaniel and she was fine after. Good luck!! |
I am so sorry!!! I will pray for him. |
