Kirby the Amazing Self Grooming (non-yorkie)Dog Okay, so maybe he's not completely self-grooming, but I'm wondering how many of you have one of these dogs in your house.. 1. When he rolls around in dirt/leaves/grass etc., he gives a great big shake and nothing sticks. I mean it, nothing! He's clean as a whistle! 2. I can bathe him once every other month, and he smells good and looks good the entire time! Honest!!! 3. If he eats something messy, he's clean. 4. If he goes out in the rain, he sheds water and is DRY within minutes of returning to the house. 5. Snow??? Snow doesn't stick to this guy! In comparison, my yorkie (anyone who knows me knows how much time I spend combing her) 1. Doesn't even need to roll in dirt/grass/leaves/twigs/acorns/mulch/bugs etc. Manages to attract them like magnets, while just skipping over the earth. :p And, they embed deeply into her hair. 2. It's everything I can do to wait a whole week between baths! She's such a mess by day three! 3. If she looks at something messy she needs wiped off. Eats it??? How many days til her bath????? lol 4. I never knew there was so much mud in rain. 5. And our snow experience last year??? "Where did all these tiny snowballs come from that are stuck all over her????? Oh my gosh I'll have to put her in a tub of warm water to get them off!!!!" LOL, I knew yorkies were high maintenance, but I'm truly amazed by the different grooming needs of my two dogs!!!! :aimeeyork :animal36 Just thought I'd share. Anyone else have a self-grooming dog??? |
What breed of dog is Kirby? |
He's a beagle/sheltie mix. 1 Attachment(s) I finally got a pic ready to share! |
awwwwwww he is absolutely adorable!!! I just love his ears :) |
He is so pretty. Beagle/sheltie must be a good combination. |
thanks! I don't think it was planned that way! Of course, I forgot to mention, part of the reason he's so self-grooming, he sheds! blah! |
Kirby looks like such a good boy! He reminds me of the dogs on the Mighty Dog cans, lol. :D |
Kirby MUST be a Boxer. :D Boo the Boxer is "self-grooming". |
Since this is Kirby's one and only thread on yorkietalk. I thought I'd post this here. I'm afraid my big guy is getting ready to say goodbye:( He's been falling down alot lately. Today when he fell I sat with him (asked dh to take the dorkies for a walk). When he finally looked ready to stand, I helped him up. He was covered in urine. He never even whimpered or complained. He's been having more seizures lately, but this didn't look like a seizure, just another fall.:( :( :( I gave him a bath afterwards. He just stood their with his head on the edge of the tub giving me kisses (he's NOT a kisser) and even let me cut his nails (usually I'm too chicken, I don't know what possessed me to try today, they just needed it, and I couldn't stand the thought of makin' him ride to the groomers which he hates). He just keeps looking at me with those foggy eyes.... I know I'm rambling. I'm just trying to remember what he was like as a pup...that seems like an entire lifetime ago. In a way, it was:( |
I'm so sorry to hear that :( He is such a beautiful boy...Big hug and kiss from Lucy to Kirby! |
i'm so sorry to hear that:(:( how old is kirby? he's a beautiful dog |
Thanks for your support. Kirby is 15. He's been doing really well the last couple of days though:) maybe I'm worrying too soon. |
