Does anyone have a toy poodle? Does anyone have a toy poodle? And if you do... what is your experience with them? and what do you like about them? |
I grew up with miniature poodles. I love the breed. Talk about smart! Is it for your mom? I think it's still hard to find a groomer in Japan but a poodle doesn't shead and would be perfect in a Japanese home. Their coat does need to be brushed a lot just like our Yorkies or they will mat. One of the main health problems are ear infections. |
I think what I need to do is... to bring my Haruka with me if .. I ever go back to visit.. (i really should).. and show my mom how beautiful yorkies are.. Then go from there.. :) I really wish I could get her an indoor dog ... service dog.. :( |
Yes, we HAD a red toy poodle (RIP) for 15 years. He was the most laid back dog I've ever seen. He was definitely not your typical yippy poodle. He had heart problems in his old age that was taken care of with medication but overall a very healthy little boy. I would say the health issues are pretty much the same with poodles (escpecially toys) than with Yorkies.... trachea issues (he never walked on a leash w/collar - only harnesses) and the knee issues (he had a very mild case which only acted up once when he got a little overweight - a healthy diet and a little weight loss took care of that). |
I had a white toy poodle for 8 yrs before I got Sophie. She was very loyal and protective of me. I don't know if all poodles are this way but she didn't care if anyone else was in the world as long as she was with me. She had heart problems in her old age and was on medication for about a year before we lost her. She was a great companion. I still miss her. |
Oh yes, I should have added that also..... Dax (my toy poodle) was very loyal to me and quite protective. I don't know if this is a poodle trait or what but he was my everything and I was his! He was our "first born", before children, so he was very special. It took a long time to get over his passing and I/we still miss him terribly! |
