Magics Mom just died She made it to twelve years old! Hopefully Magic will too! In training today my beautifull boy had his back legs slide out from him. We immediately stopped and all seemed good with his movement. He also wanted to go out again when I took Dara then Razzle out for training. |
Sorry to hear that Magic's Mom has passed, she is running free now. I hope you have many wonderful years with Magic. Sorry to hear about his legs giving way but glad to hear it does not seem to be an issue. Best wishes. |
I'm so sorry to hear that. Sending sympathy to all that loved her. |
Reading this made me so sad. I pray that you have much, much more continued health, happiness, magical moments and loving times with your special boy who has completely stolen your heart. The two of you have such a beautiful bond. I'm very sorry for the loss of Magic's mom. |
Thank you all Magic is now the last of his birth litter alive - both parents dead - and all of his siblings too ...... In our small training group only Lola Razzle and Magic are still alive - although we have newer much younger members now. The older I get the more precious each day is with my pups! |
I am so sorry to hear of Magic's Momma passing. She did have a long life for a larger dog. And she produced beautiful Magic ! Rest in peace Momma |
Oh, Gail, just now seeing this and I'm so sorry. Don't you dread hearing of your dog's littermates, mom, dad's deaths? It is always a sad day to hear of any of their passings and makes you look at your own baby all the more fondly, hug them all the more often. Sadly, none of our babies are never ever with us long enough and we are never ready to let them go but those big guys are always gone way, way, way too soon. But Mom made it to about the mid-range of BRT lifespan expectancy, didn't she? That's encouraging for your guy. Heartbreaking to hear that Magic is now the sole survivor of his birth pack but here's a paws-up for your big boy for making it this far. He's sure grabbed a whole lot of living out of his years so far, hasn't he? Magic's a real paw-to-the-helm participant, competitor - never a watcher in the weeds. From what I've seen from his videos, he lives his life with all the gusto he's got. With your loving care, his ongoing life enrichment and physical activities as tolerated, packmates to stimulate and challenge him as you allow, I'm hoping he's there to love, protect and entrance his little family for ages to come. He's so beautiful, Gail. Long have I admired your stunning Black Magic from afar. |
Thanks Jeanie for your kind thoughts. Average is 10=13 yrs for BRT;s so she did have a relatively long life for the big ones. And I am trying to appreciate each and every moment with my big boy. He is now allowed on our bed he loves the special attention he gets. He gets lots of special treats - but the best for him is when I work with him outdoors -swim and play and obedience. I have to ease up on the toy throws as a reward as his back legs slipped out from him yesterday. I plan on another video for him showing off his off lead and silent command obedience work. Hopefully he will come with me to Sept Nationals and show as a Veteran and do some competitive obedience work - it just depends on his health. I do so hope he dies with his boots on so to speak ,nothing long nor lingering as when we lost Zoey and then Karma. That is why it is so important to show the veterans so folks can see the majesty of even an aged boy. Magic has a bit of a reputation in our community as he is an old fashioned BRT - very very guardy and a hard dog - but oh so worth the investment of training time and pure love. Never has there been a more loyal dog than him. So intelligent and so very willing to work and working just lights his day up! He is never far from my side and walks always by my side - accompanies to the washroom in case I need help getting up. Walks by my side down the stairs to steady me just in case I need it. Jeanie if you could only meet him in person. He rocks! He rocks back even experienced large dog owners when they meet in person. His personae is so very large. He loves folks - but to be greeted by this big boy is a little overwhelming. Okay I am done gushing for now! LOL . |

I've heard about your majestic boy for years now, and I never tire hearing your stories, hearing his big voice, and seeing him on videos. I have grown to love him, too, and I feel very grateful to him because of how loving and protective he is of you. I wish I could go to Ilona's for her celebration--so Katie and Ilona could spend some time together, but most of all, I want to see you again and meet your heart dog. It's impossible for me to go, but I'm holding out hope. |
I am very sorry for the loss of Magic's mom. I wish Magic and you many, many more great days together. You have such a wonderful outlook, appreciating every moment you have with your heart dog. I sometimes have to remind myself not to let the ticking of the life clock overshadow enjoying my pups to the fullest. |

Lisa that would be my fondest wish. John if he could make it too - we can take him in our patio door - no stairs - and you could sleep in our grooming room - suitably decked out for company. You and John will always have a place to stay with us. And we are very close to top quality hospitals et al. We can dine al fresco in our back garden or in our den. And I still have my massage table if John would like one of those. We have oodles of crates and lots of love here for you both! |

Thank you Kristin - sometimes it feels like a morbid subject - but hey when you own dogs it does come up a lot. In terms of reminding ourselves I think most of us here at least do that every once in awhile. It took me one year to stop obsessively checking over Magicman and The Razz for lumps n bumps. But every bath day and grooming time you betcha my hands are palpating them all over! Which is at least twice per month - much better than daily.... As I train Dara more and more our bond is deepening - she is a much different dog to my Magic - but who knows what time will bring? Zoey ended up with a huge piece of my heart - sweet lass that she was. The Razz also has his 4 paws firmly around my heart. But heck that is how our hearts grow - with the love we give out and the love we receive. And dogs are quite simply pure love! |
I'm so sorry to hear of Magic's Mom passing....but am happy that her "magic" lives on in Mr. Magic . He is so special and a such a tribute to his Momma. Hoping for many, many long loving and wonderful years for you and your boy! |
Sorry to hear about Magics Mom... No matter how long or how old a dog lives, it is still so very hard to say good bye to them.... Hope your having a good summer! |
