Name change ideas
 

I rescued Buddy (Golden Retriever) back in Dec. He was 20 pounds underweight with flea dermatitis & secondary skin infections, a severe infection in both ears, missing hair on his butt, pressure ulcers over his hips, etc. He was also allowed as an unneutered male to run at large when he escaped. It took over a week of negotiating to get the dog from his owner. Animal control would do nothing.

His previous owner signed over his AKC paperwork to me. I have not sent the paperwork in because I was not sure I would be keeping him when I got him.

I am definitely keeping him now. I plan to get him to be a certified AKC Therapy Dog possibly by this time next year:rolleyes:. Still have to get CGC and Therapy organization certified. He will hopefully be a therapy dog through Bright and Beautiful (http://www.golden-dogs.org/) :thumbup:. They serve my area.

His AKC paperwork needs to be officially in my name so if I am changing his paperwork work officially over to me- He is getting an official name change, too. :D

His is presently "Sir Cody of Cumberland"- Breeders name not on original registration so it doesn't need to be included- I also spoke to them myself.

I want to change it to something that reflects where he came from to now. Like Orphan Annie. I would also like it to include the word Luck, Lucky, or Goldwin (means Golden friend).

There a few AKC Goldens named with the prefix Goldwin but none recently.

My previous Golden was "Lucky Goldwin of Cold Springs". If it hadn't been for Lucky my uncle never would have gotten a golden. He was in love with Lucky and thought all Goldens would be just like him. IMO- He should never own a living creature.

Lucky passed 11/14/2010- The first anniversary of his passing I wake up not missing Lucky but wanting another Golden- I had Golden fever. Who would have known a month later I would have Buddy? Buddy's birthday is the same day as when I lost Harley my cleft palete puppy from Cozy's second litter. It is possible Buddy was taking his first breath as Harley was taking his last.

If it hadn't been for Lucky I would not have gotten Buddy.

Everyone says he is the "Happiest Dog on Earth Now". He is always smiling. :):)

He now suffers from "Excessive Greeting Disorder" which I love and hate at the same time. I love that he loves his life. But he needs to be cool, calm, and collected for pet therapy work.

I never have trouble with my furbutt's call names just the formal ones :)

Just looked at the AKC site I can used up to 36 characters- All letters, spaces, apostrophes, etc are counted. After 36 I can go up to 50 characters for an extra $10.

I would prefer up to or under 36 :)
