Help! We have a Jack Russell that is about 5 years old and withevery passing day he is getting meaner and meaner. We have tried everythingthat we could but he has his good days and bad. Just a few hours ago he bit my DD who is 14 and knows how to handledogs. She was trying to get a leaf off his foot when he just snapped. He bither had really bad and our Yorkie came to her rescue and she was bit as well.Caoimhe our Yorkie is fine but my DD’s hand was bleeding and has a small holein her palm. I do love our Jack but I cannotlet him bite everyone. The thing about him is he will not stop he is like alittle pit bull. I have been looking into a no kill shelter, but I don’t knowif they would take him and I don’t want him to be put down. I am trying to dothe right thing after all he is our responsibility. If there is any advice thatcan be offered please let me know. |
I am sorry to hear you are having problems with your dog biting. I would recommend looking into an animal behaviorist who deals with aggressive dogs and see if they can help. I looked these sites for Ohio up North Coast Dogs –Cleveland Dog Training&Behavior or Dr. Feltes Pet Behavior Modification- The Behavior Clinic Cleveland Ohio Hopefully this will help and you will not have to give up your dog. Good Luck |

Has he been evaluated by a vet ? as he could be having pain that you are not aware of. |
Thank you all for the advice. I would like to keep him if we can and will check out the animal behaviorist. I will also take him to the vet but I don't think he is in any pain, however I have heard that dogs are good at not showing that they are in pain. |

that is what I am thinking. My Sammy (lasha) is a new pup after having his ear infection cleared up. He is 8 and I thought I had the infection cleared -- he was so mean. Long story short I took him in for another issue and the vet said his ear was very infected where I could not see it and now that is cleared up he plays and gives kisses!! Good luck |
