Cane Corso? I am strongly considering getting a Cane Corso. It is the smallest breed of the Mastiffs, but still is a pretty big dog...100lbs give or take. Does anyone out there have one or know one? And if you do, how does your Yorkie get along with it? From what I have read, they make fantastic family/guard dogs. |
Check with shodanusmc -- Steven -- He posts pics of his on here -- think maybe even in his profile pic now. He calls him a Canorkie -- but I am pretty sure that is for fun. ;) |
4 Attachment(s) Yes, Canorkie for him having a Yorkie Dad and Corso Mom! LOL Just kidding. Carlo is 100% Cane Corso with lines back to Italy. Most Corso's range from 95-130 for females, and 110-160 for males. They will drool when hot or exercising, and when they leave the water bowl, they will leave a small puddle. When they shake their head, they may slime a wall, and make sure to wipe it off fast, because when it is hard, it is like Gorilla Glue. Great dogs, but not for everyone. Takes a lot of work, especially when they are young. Carlo went to 3 puppy Kinderfarten Classes, then 3 weeks at the Training center we use for obedience where he lived, then we both went for training together, then advanced, off leash, distraction classes. Then we did Tracking, and when he finally matured Mentally and Physically at 3, he went for Personal Protection, and then weight Pulling. Guarding their family comes naturally, but they can be destructive, and are very dominent and can be real agressive with other large breed dogs. They may not start a fight, but they will finish it and not back down. Anything else, just let me know. I know who the Great breeders are, and in the US there are only a handfull of them. |
