Confession I have a confession to make, yorkies are my #2 favorite breed, dalmatians have always been my #1 favorite since I was a child. (don't tell Rizzo ;)) Anyone have any insight/experience with dalmatians? Ever since I was a kid I've just adored the breed, but out of fear that I couldn't keep it exercised enough, or loved enough (I do have to work and I'm a single lady) I've never gotten one. I've been seriously considering getting one, maybe in the next 2 or 3 years to add to my furry family but I want to do as much research and get as much inside information on this particular breed that I can. I figure at my next assignment I'll buy one after I get settled into whatever house/condo I happen to move into. I don't think I'll ever live in an apartment again (just don't like that kind of living) Do you all know how a 3 year old yorkie would react to having his house invaded by a larger breed? My Rizzo is only 6 1/2 months right now, but by the time I get a dally I'm sure he'll be about 3 if not older. He barks at bigger dogs, but it's a playful bark, we have yet to find a big dog that has any interest in playing with him. Anyways, I guess I'm just looking for positives and negatives on the breed that I may not find on a website or in a book. And some guesses on how Rizz might react to a new dog? There is a good possibility the Dal will be coming from a dal rescue (lots of people give up on them after just a few months because they dont think about how much work raising one is) It's a long way off I know, but I try to be fully prepared beforehand. |
A friend of family has Dalmatian. They are a very dominant breed, so training is crucial. Very very VERY fierce loyal. Like Kelpie or Collies, they need much exercise or they can be destructive. They good with children because they so loyal and loving to their master. |
Yep, I guess I just love challenging dogs, lol. Yorkies, Dals, always the tough to train ones :D Oh, and look what they've done to this wonderful breed: Mini Dalmatians Puppy for Sale GA Puppy’s Adoption Miniature Puppies Registered Awful, not to mention, look what they are charging for what could quite possibly be sick, unhealthy, inbred dogs! :thumbdown:thumbdown |
Well if you can tackle the yorkie, you can tackle the dally! :D That's beyond sick. What next? Teacup dalmatian? :thumbdown |
