Spicy's eye surgery went great!! Pictures..... 4 Attachment(s) She went in to surgery at 10:00 am on the 7th and I picked her up at 2:00pm same day. She only had about 30% of the protein that holds the lens on in her left eye, so she didn't get a new lens on that one, but they did laser the cataract out of both eyes and she will be able to see perfectly in just days. Dr. da Silva said the center of the eye has crystal clear fluid, but in her eyes it's like you put a couple drops of milk in each, but they clear up in a week or so. She seems to see everything perfectly, and she acts so happy it's amazing! She has to wear the plastic cone for two weeks and confined. No jumping, running, barking and such. She has to say calm. The picture of her with the expen behind her was taken just hours after surgery. The rest I took when we got home. In one, you can see how she's peeping thru the expen watching my husband in the kitchen. I finally took the blanket off the pen. I had put it there to keep her from trying to climb. |
we went to dr da silva as well so you were in camarillo? She is great as is her staff - really liked her alot so glad everything went well |

Isn't she just so down to earth and sweet as can be!! She does have a fantastic staff. I told her after she gave me and my husband a very nice lesson about the function of the eye, now that I've had an expert teacher, can I get hired on. She said yes, that she's very short handed. I couldn't handle a 2 1/2 hour commute one way each day even if it wasn't all in fun. Yes, we stayed at the Marriott from the 6th to the 9th. I really like Camarillo! I take her back for another check-up on the 16th. |

That is wonderful Spicy will be able to see again. I commented on your other thread that it is just great this can be done. :) I had no idea it could be in dogs. :) Sending good thoughts and prayers for a quick recovery. :) |
I hope Spicy recovers very quickly!!! |
2 Attachment(s) I suppose cataract surgery could be done on any animal. I'm just thankful just because she's already 10 years old and has had cataract for a long time that she was able to have this surgery, and be able to see again. Here are a couple pictures I took of her today. She's doing excellent. Still a little squinting but each day is a little better. :p |
