Cat Gets Revenge So my boyfriend and I moved in together into a new apartment in mid October. He adopted our Basenji/Shiba Inu Mix that I rescued named Koi. I have a big orange tabby cat named Kahuna. We then added our new yorkie puppy Wookie. Kahuna used to be a really loving cat. He followed you around meowing and wanting to be loved. He was always very social and happy. Now he is acting very strange. He hides in corners and in his bed under the TV and rarely comes out except to eat and potty. We make sure the dogs don't bother him and they are crated when we are gone. I know my boyfriend avoids the cat and yells at him to get away because he is allergic. The other night Kahuna took revenge and peed on Koi's bed, tore up Wookie's potty pad, and pooped on my boyfriend's cell phone charger (lol thats what he gets for being mean to my cat). He's never pooped or peed in the house before! I called the vet to see if it was something health related and my vet told me he did it all on purpose. Has anyone had this happen before? I've been trying to pay more attention to him and give him more treats. I don't want to have to rehome him :( |
I kind of agree with the vet. many changes happening for the cat with the BF/ dogs/ and the move. he may be stressed. give him time. spend more time with him. dont let BF be mean or yeal at him and keep the dogs away from him. in time he will get use to all the changes. |
Poor kitty! Glad you care about him. Was wondering if you took care of the pee and poo with an enzyme cleaner. If you didn't he will go back to those spots. Had that happen. |
We did clean everything with an enzyme cleaner. Unfortunately I had to rehome him. He took to howling every night all night long. Also the revenge peeings continued as well as the depression and anger. He wanted to get outside so he could go to the apartment across the way. He liked them better! We had a few complaints before I had to rehome him or else the landlord was going to make us get rid of him anyways... I don't think I'll ever get another cat again. |
Im sorry you had a bad experience with a cat. They all have different personalities like dogs. I had one years ago that would pee in the house. He was marking.I have 2 now and they always use their box. I like female cats better than males |
Hey there, that also breaks my heart you had to rehome him also. I have 4 cats in addition to my 3 dogs. I have had cats all of my life (39yrs) and only once did I run into a serious problem like this. However I would like to share that in addition to the enzyme treatment that I run through my carpet cleaning machine I also use a product called Bio41 and I throughly spray carpet and/or fabrics after. I bought it at a local cleaning supplier. It removes absolutely any trace of scent. I love it! If you can't find it locally you can buy it from the company online www.bioenviornmentalsystems.com It works well so that dogs and puppies can't smell where they've urinated. |
