New to Forum! Kitten Compatibility Question Hello All, This is such a great little website. Well my parents have two Yorkies, Paul who is 9 and Lily who is 3. I just brought home a kitten that I adopted from petsmart, and Paul was obsessed with her. I have her sequestered in her own room, but he sat outside the door and cried for about an hour. I don't want to let him in the room because I don't want them to hurt each other, but the knowledge that the cat is in the house is driving him insane. I just wondered if there was any advice out there for helping him deal with it, or anyone who had a similar situation with their own little Yorkshires. Lily is very sweet and very calm and she should not have a problem. The kitten's foster mom said that she was in a house with a dog and so has some good dog experience, but I think the problem is going to be helping Paul deal with it. Thanks for any and all advice! ~Megan Big Sister to Paul :aimeeyork Lily:aimeeyork and new mommy to Izzy:cat: |
Just keep bringing the kitten out when you can supervise untill your yorkie gets used to it. I have a kitten in the house right now and I did about a yr ago also for the first time and Mine have never had a problem getting used to them |
I dont know why that mad face came up I didnt press it |
We brought a kitten into the house with 2 Yorkies. Kept a close eye on them until she grew. They actually get quite cranky with her if she gets too close to them. They have a mutual understanding.....stay out of each others' space. Chipper, my 3 yr. old, loves to play with her but now I have to keep an eye on the kitty. She weighs over twice as much as he does. Miss Kitty wants to stalk my 3 lb. Yorkie so I make sure that when I leave they are always gated separately. (My gates are tall.) Good luck and congratulations on your new furbaby. ~Joanne~ |
