Ok guys need yor help deciding... Labrador Or Golden Retriever? And please say why - We're getting ready to get sibling for our furbabies :D Shells was put down in January 09 she was our biggest doggie @ 25 lbs (she was golden retriever mix) and we miss having a bigger dog out back. She kept the nasty crows away LOL and just made our backyard so much more alive. So we're starting to look now pleae help us decide Thanks!!! |
100% golden retriever. Our first one lived to be 18, and we've adopted our sons now, she's going on 4, they're pups and so full of love (and smile all the time) until the day they die |
Ohh, that's a hard one. They are both very loyal and lovable. Goldens are much more calm though while labs need about 3/4 years. Although, I wanted/want a yellow lab myself but unfortunately we're just too busy for a bigger dog. :( |

Labradors and Golden Retrievers are both very nice dogs. I just put in both on craigs list in search and there are 100's of them on there looking for good homes. of all ages. Good luck finding your new baby. |
To me "both" are excellant choices. We had our Blk Lab for 15 years. Both are so similar in characteristics - I guess for me it would come down to grooming. Both shed but Goldens have longer hair that needs brushing. Hard choice - let us know what you decided. (I'm pulling for the Blk Lab :) Good Luck!!! |
I currently have a beautiful, most wonderful yellow lab, Laci. She is 7 years old, and the most loveable dog in this world! She is super sweet with the little ones and has the most positive disposition ever! We had a golden retriever many years ago and I have to agree that she was a bit calmer than Laci the lab... If you are going to have alot of time to spend playing go with the lab, if your pup needs to be more self sufficient, go with the retreiver they do seem to me to be a bit calmer. good luck! let us know d |
Aww, that's a toughie. They're both great breeds. I had a black lab named Rookie, he was very high energy. he could play fetch forever. He was very easy to house train, and to train in general. He knew numerous commands and tricks. He was a total clown too. When we'd be outside playing I'd throw a stick that he went and grabbed. I'd throw it and he'd run and get it, if it happened to land in the bushes he would spend so much time looking for it, and if he did happen to lose it, he'd just grab another one even if it were 5 feet long. He had a knack for finding water too, if there were a puddle, pond you name it, he could find it. lol. He was also wonderful with my sister's kids, he would act like a babysitter at times. I miss him dearly. |
Hi everyone! Thanks for the comments We still haven't decided yet - our house is 50/50  My husband and daughter want Yellow Lab and My other daughter and myself want Golden Retriever:D And so far everyone tells me same thing. That both breeds are great:thumbup: |
