Please Pray for Chihuahua Ran over by Car:(
 

Long post!! I appalagize ahead of time.


Yesterday I was at my inlaws house visiting with my sister in law and her two boys that are her from missouri. I was only there about an hour when my Mother called and asked me to come pick up Zeke (my little brothers chihuahua), He had just been ran over by a car. Some guy that came out and bought one of my mom's chi pups. She said he was still alive but she didn't know for how much longer. So I told her to try to get ahold of our vet (we have his emergency # and cell.)

When I got to her house (only about 15 minutes from my inlaws) Zeke was stable but we couldnt get ahold of our vet. So we had to take him to an Emegency clinic about an hour away (they are the only ones in our area) We get him there and the made it perfectly clear IN YOU DONT HAVE THE $$$$ UP FRONT TO PAY FOR THIS THEN WE RECOMMEND YOU TO PUT HIM TO SLEEP:eek: and said to do xrays and blood work we are looking at a $300-$400 bill. I was IRATE!!!!:mad::mad:

I told them we have the $ so get him the help he needs.
While we were there a little Yorkie came in bleeding from her little face. Your not supposed to open the door for nobody (its locked from outside after hours) But I didn't care! no one was at the desk to buzz them in so I opened it for them, I could see by the look in his face they needed help ASAP.

Anyways. They got Zeke stable and called us in to see him. They said he has a break in 3 different spots in his pelvic and might need surgery but they said for now they'll get him stable and transfer him to our vet in the morning. Then its up to our vet to decide if he is going to need surgery. If so we are looking at having to take him to an orthopetic (sp) surgion and its going to cost around $2000 to $2500.

So after a $745 vet bill Zeke is home. we are getting ready to take him to our vet now. Just need a little prayer that this 3 pound chihuahua will be okay and hopfully wont need surgery!!!:getwellso:hands::goodluck:

I really hope he pulls through and doesnt need major surgery but gets all the help he does need!:animal-pa

Oh no. Poor baby. Hope he heals quickly without surgery.

Poor little guy. I hope he makes a full recovery

I am praying for a full recovery for this little one.

Well just an update. Our vet put him under so he could set his leg. And so far he's doing good. He is peeing out blood now but the vet said that its normal for animals that are hit by a car.

Fritzel had a broken pelvis when I got him. They didn't have to do surgery though. They said he just needed 6 weeks of crate rest. Now he runs around fine. Hopefully Zeke will be running around again in no time. I will be praying for his recovery.

Zeke is doing good now, He is walking a bit in his cast now. We are just hoping it heals good enough so he wont have to have plates put in it.

I was just thinking. My Little brother (only 20yrs old) is having a hard time dealing with this. Zeke is his best friend and shadow. He is just struggling with it and now the vet bills. The guy that ran Zeke over is not not willing to help pay for any of the bills.


So if we can all give my Brohter Derrick so encouragement hopefully it'll lift his spirits. And Zeke's too :D

wanted to update a little more. Zeke's right side is healing great (he only has a small fracture on that side) his left side is starting to come together beautifully and doc said he may NOT need the surgery. The next couple weeks are going to determin if he'll have to have the surgery or not. He informed us that Zeke will NEVER walk normal again, but as long as this little guy heals we dont care.

Please Keep him in your thoughts and prayers. We all know what the power of Prayer does.
