bulldog & a yorkie? my brother is planning on getting an english bulldog and im planning on getting a yorkie :) we're waiting to get it at the same time so they can grow up together :) obviously each dog is different - but if you have a bulldog and a yorkie, how do they get along? |
i don't have a bulldog and yorkie, but i do have a pit bull mix and yorkie (mix), they get along but i have to supervise anytime they are out together. rahter do that than take chances. My ex had an English bulldog and she didn't get along w/ any other dog too well. |

thanks for replying :) whats your pitbull mixed with? i think pit bulls are precious when trained well. my friend has a pitbull and hes the sweetest thing. and they also leave his ears alone - as in they dont cut it. :) |

I have an American Bulldog and a yorkie. They get along great. But the bulldog is 12 years old and runs from my cats. He is very mellow. |
yorkie & pitbull I have a 3 yr old male yorkie (spanky) and my fiance has a 6 month old female pitbull (princess). I was EXTREMELY worried at first as to how princess would act around him but she is much more gentle with him than the other dogs. I reccommend watching them very carefully when the other dog gets big and correcting him or her when it plays too rough with your yorkie but since they will be growing up together, chances are they will develop a bond and your yorkie will be the best protected pup on your block! good luck with them! |
I'm excited to hear how they do together! My husband wants an English Bulldog SO badly when we are able to settle down and have our own house...(i.e. when he's out of the Army.) Since we have two Yorkies I hope to hear they get along well together :) |
My parents breed E.B's and I have yorkies and they do realy well together. When the bulldogs are puppies they like to play with the yorkies but once they get a little bigger they just ignore them.:):aimeeyork:animal-pa |
I don't know if an English Bulldog and a Yorkie will work unless your yorkie is a big one. I have a Standard Poodle and she gets along great with my Teddi (yorkie) because she just pushes her around with her nose. My friend has a mini bull dog and I would never trust her dog with Teddi. Because of their stature they tend to use their body to play and it is way too rough for Teddi. I have found this with bull dogs and pugs (dogs that are stocky with short legs). |
My nephew has an English Bulldog, whose 3 years old. She is very friendly but doesn't know her own strength. So I'd be very cautious if you would have a smaller Yorkie around one of them even if they grew up together. |
i have a 1 year old female english bulldog and my yorkie is only around 3 pounds.they get along wonderfully and she even won't growl at him.i think an english bulldog will be fine around a yorkie.bulldogs are very laidback and ive had 3 bulldogs.no problems with them and the yorkie getting along or being left alone.they even eat together. |
I would love to have a big dog but after having 2 yorkies killed by bigger dogs I could never trust one around mine ever again. I know their are some good big dogs but sometimes they don't realize the power they have or how fragile a yorkie is. |
My daughter has an English Bull dog, and although she and Tootsie and Teddy are the same age, we keep them separated. As someone said earlier, they don't know their own strength, I would rather be safe than sorry. Just one chomp could do a lot of damage. |
Ridgeback & Yorkie Love I have a male & female Ridgebacks, a Maltese and a 7 month old Yorkie. They all get on very well, but my Male Ridgeback and the Yorky are very much in love and she just adores him. You just cant believe how gentle he is with her, unbelievable! |
Was the bigger dogs your own dogs, or someone elses dogs? |
