Experience with Schnauzers? Bubba is 12wks old and getting little balding patches on his back. I don't see any fleas and he's not really a scratcher. I didn't have the pleasure of having Gizmo when he was a pup so I have no experience with puppy coats. Could he be losing his? Or is he too young to shed his puppy coat? Do they even lose there puppy coat. I know I will not miss those little puppy needle teeth when they are gone. Bubba is a bundle of energy and we love him lots.:D |
I don't think so I used to have schnauzers years ago, and finished a champion......the only way the hair came out....even as a puppy was when I stripped the hair....ie.....pulled out the soft coat.....so that the wire coat was left..... I would probably see the vet, it may be an allergy thing.....or skin infection......even without the scratching that you would assume would happen... Good luck...they are as fun as a yorkie......but, just a little bigger....lol |

Could be caused by allergies....... our mini schnauzer (that we had for a wonderful 16 years......RIP Sweetie) was allergic to GRASS!!! I suggest a vet visit........ and also purchase some oatmeal shampoo and conditioner. It really helped our schnauzer. |
I would suggest asking the vet, too. It's not normal for them to lose patches of hair like that. I had a mini Schnauzer too but she was the soft coated variety. Never had any problems with health at all. |
I had a schanuzer also...it is not normal to loose patches of hair. She also had a soft coat and I used a clippers on her. I couldn't handle stripping the hair.....I always clipped her myself. Have him checked out just to make sure it isn't something serious. |
Definitely is something to consider, thanks so much for all the responses, can't wait to ask the dr about all this. By the way, isn't it remarkable how much these two different dogs look alike except the coloring when they are pups? |
