Staph infection
 
A few weeks ago I asked a question about a skin lesion that was on our golden retriever's belly. That has since healed under vet supervision and I've continued to check her belly every day for any further irritation. Well yesterday I noticed several small boils or bumps on her belly and one was really large so I immediately called the vet and they told me to bring her right in. He decided that it was a staph infection. He gave her a steroid shot to control itching and put her on antibiotics for 10 days. He said he has never seen anything quite like it. She had a fever of 103*, but has been eating, playing, and generally acting normal. Her poo has been a little soft, but nothing crazy. I'm just worried about her and I was wondering what you all thought. My mom thinks it's weird that the vet didn't try to biopsy it. Any opinions, advice, or experience would be greatly appreciated.

That is EXACTLY what my little 3 pound Emmy has!! Started out as a teeny little bump that maybe looked like a bug bite (on her tummy) turned into a quarter size I am guessing boil, but I saw it after it "popped" and it was a weird greenish color.
The vet didn't want to put her on meds, so I wash her once a week for 4 weeks (covered in shampoo for 10 minutes, then rinse) in pyoben shampoo.
I can't remember if we have one or two more weeks to go, but looks much better, except now she is getting what looks like a tiny little zit in another area on her tums :confused:

My vet didnt biopsy either. He told me everything I just read from that first sight the other girl listed. Knew it all off the top of his head. Very smart.
The only thing my girl is not having is itching. Or maybe she did at first and I just didnt notice :confused:
So, is she doing better now?

Thank you for looking up those sites, that was very kind. I was googling like crazy yesterday too. I gave her the first dose of antibiotics yesterday so here's hoping. Keep me updated on how your baby is doing mojo.
