That turtle is incredible! is there any way to tell how old he actually is??? (all i can think of is like you can count the rings on a tree... lol.. i know he doens't have rings....)

Actually you can work out their age, each little "block" on their shell has rings, but i find it very difficult to count lol.. too squished. He was a rescue too, has been in the family for about 40 years. His size has never changed, so he must have been fully grown.

:D You have such a cute zoo! There is a running joke with my family and friends that my boyfriend better want to live on a farm because I will need the room for all my pets. I can relate.

What a beautiful fur and shell family you have. I love tortises -- he/she is a cutiepie. I am not much of a cat fan, but you do have some very pretty kitties.

oh, I love your zoo!! I like how the cats all seem to have a pal ;) - you'll have to post a picture of Jack & Munchie sunning themselves together :)

I've got one somewhere... will have to look for it. The only one who doesn't have a pal is Nougar, she is a bit of a loner, but spends a lot of her time with me.

OK Sheilagh, I didn't know that tortises could hear...do they have ears. I was telling Gracie, my granddaughter, about Jack last night and how he comes when you call him.

Gee Patty, now you are getting technical:confused: I guess they must have ears. I'll ask my son, he is the Zoologist;) weeeelll nearly! He is the sweetest thing, and serves a purpose, eats all the snails in the garden:) The tortoise, not the son lol.

Sheilagh, I had to explain to Gracie all about SA and the difference in times and seasons. When she hears Africa, she thinks lions and jungles. I had to explain that you live in a city and you are safe from predators.

My dh travels to neighbouring countries quite often on business and I'm always asking him to bring a baby donkey for me, there are so many, just wandering around:cry: He has yet to do it :rolleyes:
