I agree that we need to make sure our kids are getting an education, several friends of mine who are college professors are appalled at the quality of the skills they see coming in to their schools. But there are better ways to access their knowledge than just one big test that puts so much pressure on them. We have 8th grade testing, too, and they start harping on the kids in 4th grade about passing the GEPA. (Grade Eight Proficiency Assesment). You can't measure what many kids know by a test given on one day. Uh oh, I'm on my soap box again. This is a subject that is near and dear to my heart and I can rant forever. Sorry! |
The program here is if your GPA is 3.0 or higher, SDSU will take you.
hmmm not going to happen, they don't tell you about the tests you MUST pass before you can attend their school. I brought that up in a meeting, let's just say they were not happy with me and my questions. I wish the parents knew the No Child Left Behind Law was made for the schools to get extra State Funding, not to help our kids. Sad, but true :thumbdown :thumbdown :thumbdown
After the adoption we found out about Life Skills classes, it's a two year class that teaches you life skills so you can make it in the real world.
After last week when our son took the ice cream out of the freezer so the bag of ice would fit (oh what a mess, I didn't find it for a week  It was the outside freezer by the pool) I think he's going to need life classes :) |
